DGT Centaur pieces

I bought a nice set of hard polymer pieces for my DGT Centaur. I believe it is a nice improvement over the default pieces, and is extremely easy to prepare them for the board. Despite what I said in the video, I actually bought them from Amazon. I confused them with another set I bought from Chess House.

Very nice pieces. I agree, it's a huge improvement compared to the original. like the colour a lot, but I think it's a pity that they are so shiny. I like matte colour more. I also not impressed with the grey / white board colour, I think they should have chosen something more traditional. I have the Millenium, and it is fine for me, though, I wish it would sense the pieces and that the display would also be paper white, like the Centaur. But... we can't have everything, they all have some advantages and disadvantages.

Yeah, I have the Millennium King Performance as well, and it has many more bells and whistles (many more chess features). I, too, wish the Centaur had more features.

Extremely helpful video, thanks! I have an old boxwood set with 3 3/4 inch king and thought it might be too big for this board. Now, after seeing your video, seems like that wouldn't be an issue. I finally bought the Centaur and ordered those stickers and looking forward to using my old boxwood pieces with the board. I too have older eyes, 79 years old, so larger pieces are desired.

What is the king height and base measurements. I just got the same board and dislike the original B & W set. Thanks for this vid .

Buy washers from hardwear and stick it on peices bottom by glue gun and it will work amazing. Give me 👍 if i helped U

Did you have to remove any felt from the bottom of the pieces before applying the foil stickers?

Well my pieces didn't have felt. But I think these stickers would adhere to the felt.

The pieces I bought seem to be a tad lighter than the default piece set, but still plenty heavy for my taste.

I've updated my Centaur with wooden pieces and it's such an improvement. The original white pieces have no contrast at all with the board, it was terrible.

Common mistake is to give pieces that clash with the board. Normally it is jet black pieces for jet black squares on some of the chess computers I have. You need 4 x colours to get a good contrast. I get the impression the person who designs chess computers over the years do not play chess - except for the wooden Mephisto boards, which are excellent.

No, it's almost an exact fit.
