I used to listen to Pappu sain and Jhura sain in the courtyard of Shah Jamal some twenty years ago. Are any of the dhol players in the video related to them? The dhamal used to take place every Thursday evening. I will be grateful for any information. Thanks.

Papp Sian was a great friend, I saw his black and white photograph in a photo show in Colombo Sri Lanka back in 1995 and also learnt about his mastery over Dhol. Finally, on my return I met him in 2001 in Lahore and became his fan. I seldom missed his Thursday mystic session at Shah Jamal. We remained in contact till his demise. Pappu Sian we miss you dearly............With regards to Jhura Sian the news were no so good, not sure where is he now.? The young Dholchi with pony in the extreme left of the frame is Pappu’s son. The melody line in the start is very near to the Punjabi song called ‘Sada Chidiya da Chamba’ worth checking its sung during girl’s ‘Vidai’ in marriage in accordance to the Punjabi folk culture. Hope it helped 🙂
