Navaratri is an opportunity for me to go beyond my own journey of music or rather, take a detour from the scheduled path to experience and immerse myself in the craft of some phenomenal musicians around me. It’s like taking an unplanned halt to enjoy a beautiful scenery during a road trip!
In today's presentation, I have collaborated with some of my wonderful musician counterparts- Shreya Devnath, Praveen Sparsh, Mylai Karthikeyan and Adyar Silambarasan from "A Carnatic Quartet". This rendezvous was endless fun, musically and otherwise. We even briefly unleashed the inner child in us by swapping instruments but of course, that is strictly off the record 😄
With a team like this, we couldn’t have picked anything but the vibrant Dhanasri Thillana by Maharaja Swathi Thirunal.

Amazing coordination between vocal and such varied instruments - nailed the sound balance between a thavil and a violin and a nagaswaram, which vary so much in power. Sriranjani's brighas are simply brilliant - voice and ideas. Almost MLV like. It's great to see new ways of presenting these time tested pieces on modern platforms! The video shots were also very well conceptualized and done!

Amazing performance. But on a small note, this thillana was actually tuned to dhanashree by the great maestro Sri. Lalgudi Jayaraman. So it would be appreciated if you mentioned his name alongside Maharaja Swathi Thirunal's name because his contribution is huge in this thillana
