Only in UK you need work permit to play, this work permit can only be obtained if the rank of your country is < 70. There are exceptions to this rule though through which you can get work permit.

This is the most weird takes I have ever listened to. Obviously its the responsibility of govt to implement laws. It's not players fault, govt should make dual citizenship valid only for sportsperson. Why blame other players playing in Europe and asking them to drop their passport. By this logic we can never qualify for WC if none of our players are playing in European leagues and to play in European league you need a European passport. So dual citizenship should be valid

Also you do not need to change indian law to have dual citizenship. India already allows PIO and OCI (overseas citizen of India). All you need to Sports Ministry to allow players with OCI/PIO card to be allowed to play for India. It's not hard if we just a bit more publicity about the topics. It's just politics with politician wanting to support local clubs due to perhaps paybacks they get, without thinking about bigger picture.
