USA public transportation seems to be hell. I never used it except for Greyhound or planes between cities but I went out on my own once. The buses were impossible to get. I never even saw a bus even though the app said that buses ran. Uber was how I travelled. I had other people reserve them for me. I could not find taxis. Also, Americans look down on public transport.

I live in Istanbul and my boyfriend's+many of my friends' families have cars but they still use public transportation to come to school etc. Our busses/metros/ships are pretty good, clean and cheap. The automotive industry took over here in the US during the latter half of the 20th century, to the point that governments won’t really invest in public transportation. So, while we do have it, it’s limited. Places outside major metro areas usually have none at all. If you don’t have a car, you’re not going anywhere. And for mid-sized cities like the one where I live, it runs on a limited schedule with limited routes and stops, so it may not be practical outside of the downtown area and commercial districts. I’m a 10-minute walk away from the nearest stop, but many other residents could live a mile or two away from the nearest stop. Requests for new stops and routes go through the city, and could take years to implement, if the city bothers at all. Ridesharing is definitely feasible, but can get expensive. I will say, I think most Dhar Mann videos take place around Los Angeles, which is enormous, and may have more options for public transit, but I’ve never been.
