Athgaon Zamindari was consist of 109 Mouzas. It is situated just 10 kms or 6 miles away from the District Headquarter of Balangir. The head of the Zamindari belongs from a Kondh family. The Zamindars were rewarded with titles like Singh and Mandhata from the rulers of Patna. Sri Dharam Singh Mandhata was one of the powerful ruler. He had given shelter and helped Chakara Bisoi to fled from the reach of English. He is known as the first freedom fighter of Balangir.
