I met a new girl in 7th grade, she had transferred from a different school. Our lockers were next to each other so we started to talk and become friends. She had said that her family had moved around alot and that she wasn't a good reader. In 9th grade I realized she couldn't read at all. She knew the alphabet and could write her name but that was it. They moved around so much she was always put in the grade that was related to her age. I found out her father was also illiterate. She got nothing but F's but yet they always passed her on to the next grade. Like she was a burden and nobody wanted to figure out what was going on and help her. In 10th she was told she would never graduate if she didn't do the work. So myself and my mom decided to teach her and her dad to read!!! Her grades weren't perfect but she did graduate!! Her dad learned to read simple things and passed away not long after... ❤🧡💛
