DHH loves this new Terminal

DHH recently tweeted that he is on a hunt to find a new code editor. In that tweet I found out that DHH is also talking about WRAP, a new terminal that is now developers favourite. After years, there is a company that is making innovation in terminal space. A completely fresh look and useable features, all cooked up in RUST programming language is a must try out terminal for developers.

Oh-my-zsh does most of the cool stuff, like auto-complete, history specific suggestions, and arrow based directory selection... It has a lot of plug-ins. Besides, warp requires an account, which is a total deal breaker.

that's true i am also a bit skeptical about attaching my account with my terminal, but i think that's what is new with this one that it makes it portable and remote, not for me tho but maybe some people would love it.

Been using it for a year now. Absolutely miles ahead of other terminals!!! I have installed FFF and neovim and they make using the computer more efficient than using the UI.

I have been following warp for almost 2 years since it launched for Mac and now when it finally came to linux I didn't wasted a single moment to switch to warp and yes I did not regret this choice a single bit 😉

Hi Hitesh, As I have gone through the warp's privacy policy (All fine BUT), there may be a chance to collect data under the name of analytics and crash reporting, So do we need to disable them beforehand to use any actual project?

After using it for a while I will drop it. Most of the features are already present in my normal shell or built into the terminal. Having an in terminal AI integration is cool, but I quickly reach the daily limit, even of the paid tier and found myself using ollama more often than I would like to admit. The only thing I would be interested in would be to see how good their real time sharing performance compared to tmate.

Warp is pretty good honestly. I tried it for a while. But then I was able to use Codewhisperer with iterm and that was that. The rest of the fancy features of warp while cool are not that useful day to day. The subshell can be pretty cool but I didnt find a good use case for it.

i didnt like wrap if anyone want a great terminal set up then you can install starship,fish and tmux to your terminal and also add some transparent theme to it and that is the best set up according to me for the terminal

I personally hated warp, mostly because of the "groups" it forms and didn't use it's 'ai' capabilities at all. For now I am sticking to iterm2 terminal emulator.

There's no rule of using CLI. As per my average usage of terminal, a vanilla bash terminal is more than sufficient, that's why I found this type of app/customization is not for me, atleast not right now. Please figure out how many features YOU ARE GOING TO USE DAILY
