Yes its beautiful. We stayed at the Taj Lake palace too, a decade back and it doesn’t seem to have changed one bit. They had live traditional music and dance performances and the dancers were so graceful. They had a special dinner on the lake. The hotel also provided us with a fantastic guide to visit the city and that was a wonderful trip.

Wonderful... Udaipur ghumne ka sahi vakht monsoon and winter hai.... February ke bad hot weather ho jata hai.... greenery kam ho jati hai.... monsoon me khub achchhe view dekhne ko milte hai... monsoon palace sajjangadh...kumbhal gadh....bahubali hill....pichhola lake...fatehsagar lake...ye sab monsoon me bahot badhiya dikhte hai

Because the royal families still live inside the palace and practice legacy/tradition. I think other parts in India, royal families aren’t that close due to various reasons. Either they must have gone to other places for job or studies, or might not have money left. The Rajputs in Udaipur get finest education and then come back to their roots. They are best at tourism and hospitality. The earning part comes from heritage hotels (they converted all small dwellings/places into hotels for business) and schools these royal families own. The Rajputs in Jaipur befriended the Mughals but from Udaipur didn’t. This is what I’ve heard/read.
