Dhul Qarnain the 1st Qarn

The Qur'an has informed us that Allah Most High SPOKE DIRECTLY to Dhul Qarnain. He did not speak to him through the Angel Gabriel, nor did He speak to him from behind a Hijab. Let me give a serious warning to those who insist on identifying Dhul Qarnain with a historical person such as Cyrus or Alexander. The implication of such a declaration is that they are further declaring that Allah Most High SPOKE directly to Cyrus or Alexander. If this is false, they would would declared something about Allah Most High which is false, and would have to answer for that on Judgement Day. They should either recognize their mistake and make Tauda, or accept the responsibility for declaring that Allah Most High SPOKE DIRECTLY to whoever they have identified as Dhul Qarnain. Dzulqarnain was Cyrus the Great. Dzulqarnain means two horns which are the two empires of Media and Lydia that Cyrus conquered and united them to form the Archaemenid empire. The travels of Cyrus also coincides with that of Dzulqarnain in the Quran. First, he conquered Lydia in the west and bordering the dark waters of the Black Sea, then he went to the Gedrosian desert where the people there lived a primitive nomadic lifestyle under the hot and extreme Gedrosian desert. 1. ‎حَتَّىٰ إِذَا بَلَغَ مَغْرِبَ الشَّمْسِ وَجَدَهَا تَغْرُبُ فِي عَيْنٍ حَمِئَةٍ وَوَجَدَ عِندَهَا قَوْمًا قُلْنَا يَا ذَا الْقَرْنَيْنِ إِمَّا أَن تُعَذِّبَ وَإِمَّا أَن تَتَّخِذَ فِيهِمْ حُسْنًا Until when he reached the place where the sun set, he found it going down into a black sea, and found by it a people. We said: O Zulqarnain! either give them a chastisement or do them a benefit. 2. ‎حَتَّىٰ إِذَا بَلَغَ مَطْلِعَ الشَّمْسِ وَجَدَهَا تَطْلُعُ عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ لَّمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُم مِّن دُونِهَا سِتْرًا Until when he reached the land of the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a people to whom We had given no shelter from It; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gedrosia_(satrapy) The people that Cyrus met was called the ichthyophagi people en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ichthyophagi 3. ‎حَتَّىٰ إِذَا بَلَغَ بَيْنَ السَّدَّيْنِ وَجَدَ مِن دُونِهِمَا قَوْمًا لَّا يَكَادُونَ يَفْقَهُونَ قَوْلًا Until when he reached (a place) between the two mountains, he found on that side of them a people who could hardly understand a word. Many believe that the wall mentioned in the Quran is the the Gates of Elan built at the Darial Gorge which is at the foot of Mount Kazbek and Mount Shani along the river Terek at the border of Georgia and Russia. Cyrus was also revered by the Jews and he was prophesied to come by the prophet Jeremiah and Isaiah 200 years before he was born. During his reign as the king of the Archaemenid empire he conquered Babylon and released the many Jews who were exiled there after Nebuchednezar destroyed the first temple. He also funded the building of the second temple of Jerusalem after he conquered Babylon. Such was the honour bestowed on him that he is called the messiah in the Old Testament, the only gentile to have this honour. Further testament to Cyrus being Dzulqarnain of the Quran is the fact that Dzulqarnain ( ذا القرنين ) is mentioned by name in the Arabic bible that is in the book of Daniel chapter 8:20 which reads ‎20 اما الكبش الذي رأيته ذا القرنين فهو ملوك مادي وفارس. The ram which you saw, having the two horns-they are the kings of Media and Persia. This is the only time that Dzulqarnain is mentioned in the bible in the same manner as the Quran and it clearly refers to Cyrus the great. The historicity or sirah of the story of Dzulqarnain also points towards Cyrus the Great as the questions posed to Prophet Muhammad by the Arab Jews of Medinah through the Mecca Quraish clearly relates to someone that they, the Arab Jews knew from their scripture as Dzulqarnain would be only seen in their Arabic bible and not even in the Hebrew bible. Another interesting fact about Cyrus is the fact that he lived at the same time as prophet Danial and it would not be unfathomable to theorise that Cyrus was being advised by prophet Danial and also follows his teachings in terms of religious belief. Hence Cyrus maybe worshiping the One true God Allah as alluded in the Quran. For these reasons, I believe makes Cyrus the Great the most likely candidate for Dzulqarnain in the Quran

Quran is a miracle and the verses concerning Dhul Qarnayn prove it. According to verses 89-91 Dhul Qarnayn says: "Give me pieces (blocks) of iron;” then, when he had filled up the gap between the two mountain-cliffs, he said: “Blow;” then when he had made them (red as) fire, he said: “Bring me molten copper to pour over them.” This method of tying blocks of stone together with molten metal staples was exclusive to the 6th Century BCE Persians. Blocks of stone with indentations for pouring the metal staples are found in the construction of Cyrus the Great's tomb at Pasargadae.

Surat Al bakarah. 259. Mentions of dhul qurnayn . "Or take the one who passed by a ruined town. He said, ‘How will God give this life when it has died?’ So God made him die for a hundred years, and then raised him up, saying, ‘How long did you stay like that?’ He answered, ‘A day, or part of a day.’ God said, ‘No, you stayed like that for a hundred years. Look at your food and drink: they have not gone bad. Look at your donkey- We will make you a sign for the people- look at the bones: see how We bring them together and clothe them with flesh!’ When all became clear to him, he said, ‘Now I know that God has power over everything.’. my understanding is that dhul qurnain is the first of the tubba kings of Yemen which many kings rained after him. They decended from the himyarite Sabian kingdom. The first king of tubba was also named Al aqran which meant the horned one. And he was mentioned in Surat Al bakara as he lived and died for 100 years and was givern life again. He was then crowned the king of the sabean himyarite kingdom by the and was then called the kingdom of tubba. they was called tubba meaning to follow the sun. He traveled following the sun as the Qur'an explains in Surat Al kahf. Also Allah mention the kingdom of tuba in chapter (44:37)saying. "Are they better or the people of Tubba? " The kingdom of himyar is yahud kingdom of Judah that the Qur'an and bible speak of. They are the sons of himyar son of king Saba (Sheba) son of yarub(farther of Arabs) sons of qahtan son of prophet HUD hence why they called yahud named after the prophet( his grave also in Yemen) son of Sam or Shem son of noah that why the yahud jews asked the prophet these questions because he was their king. A hadith of the prophet Mohamed pbuh also says that the kingdom was givern to himyar then it shal be givern to Quraish for a term then it shal return to himyar.

Gog and magog is in surah kahaf which prophet told us to read to protect yourself from dajjal fitna. It means both fitna comes at same time or one after the other. The release of Gog ma Gog during the founding of the China communist party 1919 and Balfour agreement 1917 the established the second return as par the Quran. release of Gog ma Gog returns of the Israelites to the promised land for the second and final century. Qarn is 100 years and hence Dhulqarnain are the two promised centuries God SWT gave to Israelites, the first was during Nabii Daud AS and The returning now and the Balfour agreement. But also the Quran says khuruj ( coming out) of the land is conditional to the Gog ma Gog reaching the lands, means they're become strong. According to the Quran studies the Khuruj is expected to be in 2022. Note what you read in the Quran surat Issra on the two promises are what is written in the book of Nabii Musa AS 1500BC. The Quran 632 AD that is before 2132 years for the event God SWT set to happen in 2022 that is before 3522 years.

The Quran start from the story of Noah 4000 BC. God in Sura Hud has given us the seven Nations that God has destroyed starting from People of Noah, Hud,Saleh, Lut,Abraham, Shoaib and last Musa Faroun and his army. The religious story starts from Abraham 2000 BC when he run away from his people and Nimrod. Abraham is the father of all the prophets .Abraham had two sons Ismael from Hager and Issac from Sara. After Sara had Issac God ordered Abraham to take Ismael and Hager to the desert Macca. Abraham than prayed to his God that Ismael became Nation and prophet from the Ismael. The prophet hood continued to Issac to Jacob to Joseph 1700 BC who became a minister in Egypt king when he translated his dream and save the king nation from hunger for the seven years. Joseph bought all his family to Egypt Jacob and eleven brothers. The people of Egypt held the family of Joseph high respects and time passed they than became arrogant and haughty than they became slaves under Farou. Than God sent Mosses 1500BC to liberate Israel from Farou and take them to the promised land but they refused to enter and eventually returned to Egypt. God was displeased with Israel and told Mosses that your people will wander the land till my promise comes. Than God set the two promises for Israel returned to the promised land for each return a century stay to repentance. Dhulqarnain are the two centuries however Quran is for the second promise and gives the direction of the Jews exodus. God than sent David 1000 BC and Solomon for the first promise return to the promised land Jerusalem. The Israeli than exodus to Babylon. God than sent Jesus AD to few Israelis that remain in Jerusalem and they denied him but killed him but God raised him to Himself. So God said in sura Yasin we sent them two Moses and Aron they returned to Egypt and were reinforced with the third Jesus but killed him and they said to you and your messengers. God than sent Muhammad 570 AD to Macca answering the pray of Abraham to the nation of Ishmael. Than Balfour agreement 1917AD Jews return to Jerusalem for their second promise for a century. The Jews will go to Juj ma Juj land when they exist Jerusalem. The Quran studies suggest the exodus is 2022

Assalam O Alaikum Dear Sheikh Imran Hussein I am a big fan of you and I have listened to almost all of your lectures on KZbin and learnt a lot from you. I agree with most of the interpretations and insights about Islamic Eschatology you present. I also listened to some of the lectures of your teacher Dr Moulana Fazul Rahamn Ansari RA and I say that only a teacher like him could have produced a student like you. I love and respect you a lot but humbly feel that you made some mistakes and contradictions in this lecture. You said again that you are not interested in identifying who this historic personality Dhulqarnain is because only a prophet could have known that personality and answer that. So my question is why jews asked about Dhulqarnain if only a prophet knew about him… how come jews knew about him? You said that its not important to know Who Dhulqarnain is but its important to know what Dhulqarnain is. I am sorry sheikh but jews asked about a personality “a great traveler” not an event “a great travelling”. And the Quran reply is also about a "Personality" then Allah mentions events linked to that personality. You said Allah spoke to Dhulqarnain and then you painted Alexender, Cyrus and Sulaiman with one brush and asked viewers did Allah speak to them? But you forgot that Sulaiman PBUH was a prophet and yes Allah spoke to him many times. He was not like Alexender or Cyrus at all. Alexender or Cyrus can never be the Quranic personality of “Dhulqarnain”. I learnt from you how to connect the dots and how to draw conclusions and at the end say Allah knows best. In my humble opinion, to identify Dhulqarnain as who he was is the most important part of the puzzle to understand the formation of our world today and to understand Dajjal better. It is the Key stone. I have come up with a conclusion that Dhulqarnain is Prophet Sulaiman PBUH. My humble conclusion is derived from your lectures and by Allah’s blessing who blessed me with a thinking mind. I have tried to make a connection between DHULQARNAIN and Prophet SULAIMAN PBUH. So without going into details I share my case with you. 1. Jews asked for “The Great Traveler” or someone who travelled from one end of the world to the other. In the Quran Allah tells us that Prophet SULAIMAN PBUH would travel on air and he would travel a month journey in a day (Surah saba Ayat 12). I believe that he must have traveled around the globe in his life many times so he is THE GREAT TRAVELER by all means and one of his journeys was between Caspian and black sea and there he eventually built the wall and blocked Gog and Magog. 2. The meaning of Dhulqarnain as you say QARN means Generation, Nation, Epoch so he is someone who is connected or impact on TWO, TWICE or on TWO THINGS. In all history of humankind only Prophet SULAIMAN PBUH ruled over two nations or two people, JINN and HUMANS simultaneously. He is also the only one who ruled from East to West. Thus we can call Prophet SULAIMAN PBUH as “Dhulqarnain”. 3. Dhulqarnain built the wall with Iron and copper and in Quran Allah tells us that he provided Prophet SULAIMAN PBUH copper abundantly (Surah Saba Ayat 12). Also Allah softened the IRON for Prophet David PBUH and Prophet Sulaiman PBUH inherited the kingdom from his father so he knew how to work with Iron. The transportation of the metal would have done by jinns who would also construct buildings for him. I feel that the construction of that kind of wall or DAM in that time period was only possible by a person like Prophet SULAIMAN PBUH who had power on all natural forces of this world and even over JINNS. 5. If you read all Aayat where Allah addressing Dhulqarnain, it seems HE is talking to prophet SULAIMAN PBUH and vice versa and If you read various responses of prophet SULAIMAN PBUH it seems as if Dhulqarnain is responding and vice versa. So i am convinced that Quranic personality Dhulqarnain is Prophet Sulaiman PBUH and ALLAH KNOWS BEST .

There are so many indications in the Quran which suggest that Prophet Sulaiman PBUH is indeed Dhulqarnain. I share the verses of Quran which indicates that both of these are the same Person. And these similarities in the Quran are surely NOT BY ACCIDENT. This message is not to convince or force you to accept my views but just go through it. 1. Dhulqarnain is only mentioned in Surah Kahaf and Allah introduced him in Ayat 84 “ Wa Atainahu min kul e shaieen sababa “. In Surah Namal Ayat 16 Prophet Suleman acknowledges blessings from Allah as “ Wa Ootina min kul e shaieen” 2. Alkahaf Ayat 86 When Dhulqarnain reaches the sun set and meets a nation Allah Speaks to him ”Imma an toizaba wa imma an tat takhizu fehim husna”. In surah Swaad Ayat 39 Allah speaks to prophet Sulaiman PBUH “ Haaza Atauna famnun awo amsik beghair hisab. 3. Surah Kahaf Ayat 95 when people at mountain offer some khiraj to Dhulqarnain he says “Ma makani feh e rabbi kher”. In surah Al Namal Ayat 36 when delegation of queen Sheeba present the gifts Prophet Sulaiman PBUH respond “Fama Aateni Allah kher” 4. In surah Kahaf Ayat 96 Allah tells us that Dhulqarnain built the wall between the mountains by using Iron and copper. In surah Saba Ayat 12 Allah tells us that he provided copper to Prophet Sulaiman PBUH abundantly. Also the mountain and iron is linked with Prophet Dawood PBUH. Prophet Sulaiman PBUH inherited the kingdom from Prophet Dawood PBUH so he knew how to work with iron and copper. 5. In surah Kahaf Allah tells us three journeys of Dhulqarnain and in Surah Saba Ayat 12 Allah tells us that Prophet Sulaiman PBUH would travel a month journey in a day. So Allah is talking about his journeys. 6. In Surah Kahaf Ayat 98 we know that once the wall is built Dhulqarnain says “Haza rahmatun min Rabbi” In surah Namal Ayat 40 when the throne is brought in front of Prophet Sulaiman PBUH he says “Haza min Fadal e rabbi”. I am not translating Ayaat because you know the essence and meaning of these ayat are almost the same and as if they are spoken to one individual, they are about one individual or they are the responses of one individual. Dhulqarnain is a righteous character Allah bless him significant powers on earth and Allah speaks to him directly and frequently. Dhulqarnain inform people about end days. He inform them about here after and warn them about the punishments of Allah if they do wrong deeds. He is merciful and helps oppressed and punishes the oppressors. All these characteristics perfectly fit Prophet Sulaiman PBUH. Allah knows best

There is two Qarn in human history..unecorded and recorded history..and there is another two Qarn in recorded history. The 1st Qarn being a time where in the history books, the year of the events are marked as circa or roughly. The 2nd Qarn is when the year of event can be precisely recorded. A pious king worthy of the title Dhulqarnain between the two time of how history is recorded is Cyrus the Great. BCE or AD is not significant because it only marked the year of Nabi Isa a.s was born not how human able to record history.
