Actually, Ye Huah is not older than Bai Qian. Let's not forget that he was born at the same time as Mo Yuan, but his spirit was inside a pond lotur. I think that one of the reasons why Yehua envies his second uncle is that his uncle managed to do what Yehua failed to do: protect his beloved. Yehua made numerous mistakes when Bai Qian was Su Su that put her in direct danger. He failed to protect her and he realises this. He has 300 years to contemplate the ways he failed Susu. It was the first time that he failed at anything (him being the revered Crown Prince of the Celestial Tribe who ascended to high immortal when he was only 20 000 years old, never lost a battle etc.). And it was his biggest and most painful failure. After this loss, you see a much more humble and meticulous Yehua. With Bai Qian, he takes nothing for granted. He plans well ahead. He does his research and plans out every detail so that this time, he doesn't fail her.
