I can't keep up with the dialog, but can understand reasonably well the subtitles. Judging by the text of the subtitles in combination with the demeanors and body language of the convicts, I see no fear (of the law and consequences), no remorse, no repentance in any of them. It seems to me they took pride in their abilities to beat the system and reap rewards for their family members (who are now likely enjoying the "fruit of their labor" overseas, beyond the reach of the Chinese government), and tell about on TV. They spoke of their crime like a walk in the park. I'm afraid this TV series serves as more a tutorial for future corrupt officials than a warning. Without severe penalties, future corrupt officials will learn from this series about the mistakes these convicts made that got them caught, and up their craft in graft so they won't get caught.
