Good for you. This might not work for every genetic type, but it is working for you. I take that back when looked at your diet I was like blown away. Your diet is very well rounded.
@peanutbutterhoney96006 жыл бұрын
I would disagree that it doesn't work for every genetic type. Anyone can reduce their insulin resistance by addressing the base cause of it through diet.

Confused. Dr. Eric Berg says Fat Is NOT the Cause of Insulin Resistance. Please address and advise.
@Denis-ou1pt6 жыл бұрын
I doubt that he would say that because this would be untrue and he sticks to research. Science was done and fat that accumulates in the cell causes that the signalling in the cell doesn't work so efficiently so more insulin is needed, to get glucose into the cell. That's why starvation is also so efficient. The liver has time to flush the fat out of the hepatocytes and the insulin works better.

Simply do a search on Dr.Berg and diabetes and you will see. Been watching more of this channels videos and like what I am seeing about diabetes.

Simply? Try that. When the liver gets "clogged up" it can't store glucose, proteins and fats so effectively. And then more of the nutrient go to muscles and other tissues on the periphery. Here comes the insulin resistance in play. The body is telling you " I'm full, I can't store anymore". So type 2 diabetics have to take more and more insulin to shove glucose in the cell, through glut4 receptors (insulin is needed). We measure the glucose concentration in the blood, which, when too high, isn't good and is so it's important to keep it low (below 6,1 mmol/l when fasted). But the underlying cause is insulin resistance, caused by too much and too frequently ingested food, not enough exercise (we don't burn the nutrients in the cell via aerobic/anaerobic metabolism in the muscles). When you eat fat it gets stored in the liver, the muscles, the fat cells. When you eat sugar it first must be converted into fat via process called the novo lipogenesis (you need to eat a ton of OH for that to happen) And of course the pancreas gets also clogged with fat, don't forget the pancreas and the liver are the first organs that come in touch with the absorbed nutrients which come from the intestine (through vessels) when absorbed,... so they can properly react: - how much amount of insulin and other enzymes should be secreted - most of the insulin (about 50%) is absorbed by the liver and the other portion goes to the periphery cells to bring the glucose into the muscle cells (glut 4, which need insulin to store glucose) - glut 2 receptors are on the pancreas and liver and they don't need insulin to get the sugar in the cells I could go on and on with this. What I wanted to say is that the most effective way to battle type 2 diabetes is to fast - so you can flush out the liver and the pancreas, fat cells, muscles... Hope this is now clearer to you. If you have any question let me know. :)

thanks for the lengthy reply, less confusing. However, there seems to be deliberate confusion on this issue, and to explain wht you just did you had to indoctrinated in what a Dr. Eric is purporting that fat does not casue diabetes and oh yes, go eat some eggs!
@Denis-ou1pt6 жыл бұрын
sorry, that's just science speaking. if you can't deal with it, that's your problem. :) once you have diabetes and go on a paleo diet or keto diet, try to score a normal OGTT - it's not gonna happen, because the insulin resistance is still there, caused by too much fat in the muscle cells. what about the eggs ? :D

I have been fasting for about 93 hours. I feel good. But my blood glucose (in the 200 to 250 range without meds before fast) still has not fallen below 144 mg/dl. I would have thought that after 72 hours or so there would be no stored glycogen and that liver gluconeogenesis would have ended. Where is the blood glucose coming from?

KIM PETTUS, Congratulations and yes, I encourage you to get off all dairy. After watching "Forks Over Knives" on Netflix I immediately read "The China Study" by Dr. T. Colin Campbell (who is featured on the documentary). The astounding revelations that I learned from that book made it extremely easy for me to eliminate all dairy right away. When you see what's "inside" milk, cheese, yogurt, etc., it is suddenly gross to eat those. A very easy transition, indeed. :)

That many carbs would make my diabetes come back! Your diet is just less calories. Not sustainable. Keto and intermittent fasting is the best lifestyle in my opinion.
@megatuanis6 жыл бұрын
Judy Rowland, It is not only sustainable, but it is also life-saving. The key is lowering your fat intake, so that insulin can deliver glucose into muscle and liver tissue, where it belongs. It gets used for energy until our next meal. On a keto diet, fats from meat, butter, oils, etc., occupy that crucial space within muscle tissue, making it hard (and sometimes impossible) for insulin to deliver glucose into those tissues; thus, glucose stays in the blood, forcing you to consume a low-carb diet just to keep blood sugar down. So the keto diet is a short-term bandaid, with many pitfalls. On the other hand, on a whole-food, plant-based lifestyle, your body is working at an optimal level, easily delivering glucose where it belongs because fat is no longer blocking "the road." On top of that, we get all the wonderful, cancer-fighting fiber, antioxidants, vitamins, etc. that fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes provide. Thousands of people are living diabetes-free, no more meds, no more counting calories or carbs. And never hungry, either, because you eat until you feel satisfied, every time.

Incorrect it is completely sustainable and I've reversed my diabetes. I've been eating this way for over a year, and my numbers are even better and labs are perfect. Keto is not a healthy way of living.
