This is what i wanted for Diablo 2 for years to be officially supported in battlenet. It runs on a toaster, unlike D2R.

Its funny I set this up exactly how you did and play diablo on and off around the time you posted this. I think I prefer the look of the original graphics with the fps increases and scaling of the glide wrapper on d2dx to RDR; I remember not being able to find any info as the mods were outdated and had to get the 1.14d version to make it work

I just tried this mod and D2 now looks spectacular on my 165Hz 1440p panel! Definitely also moving it to my Steam Deck 👍

@@EddieEddieEddie90 literally as simple as installing on PC and then copy-pasting the D2 folder onto the Deck. Add the relevant exe as a "non-steam game" on the Deck, apply Proton compatibility and play 👍 Though I have to say - I'm more into D2R. While D2 and its mods work fine on the Deck - my thimbs get too tired using the trackpad so aggressively on a game like this. With D2R I can jist mostly use the controller layout (modified, ofc) and then use the trackpad mouse or the touchscreen to sort the inventory in town or whatever. It's just a much better experience, though sadly no PlugY.

it works great in 1920x1080, but i cant get the black bars to go away in widescreen... so much better than the blizzard one

Would be cool if they patch in similar technology to D2R so you can play in new graphics, old graphics upscaled, or classic old graphics instead of just having new and classic.

Hey there, how do I set different 16:9 resolutions, for example 1366 x 768? It keeps default max res. of my screen which is 1600 x 900 Do I need to change it in Windows settings each time I run the game?

My game keeps crashing after the intro videos play. Any idea what might be causing that?

Sadly not. I just used a fresh install of diablo 2 1.14(it did not work with an older 1.12 install) and installed d2dx right after that. I had an issue when 2 monitors are connected and the windows should display on the second monitor only. It did not crash but the video driver(Nividia in this case) crashed all the time(had to use windows+ctrl+shift+b to get a picture again). Could only solve this by not cloning the primary display and just use both in extended view. If it still crahes for you then the glidewrapper might not work correctly, which can be a thing with integrated gpu solutions. Try to start the game without "-3dfx" to see if it starts without d2dx. If it crashes without the mod you should try and reinstall diablo again. I hope you can solve this! Because it can be everything right now. Is there an error message? Are you using mods? What's your setup?

@@Eispfogel I did it on a fresh install of 1.13d so I was like....why is this not working. Tried multiple times but I'm going to try to completely wipe everything diablo 2 from my computer and try again. I'm running a 2080 so not an integrated...it's just the game is so old I feel like anything could tip it off to not working haha. Running in compatibility mode works for without the mod but when the mod is I can watch the first two cinematic things but then as soon as it goes to the main menu music it crashes. I have 3 monitors and a logitech wheel connected. I heard that the wheel may cause issues but I unplugged it and it still didn't work.

@@lordreavers 1.13d could be the issue then. 1.12 wasn't working for me either. Maybe this version helps if you can't find 1.14d: github.com/bolrog/d2dx/releases/tag/0.99.521 But i guess when you wipe everything and start fresh it will work. Don't forget to copy your savegame from "C:\Users\your username\Saved Games\Diablo II" and delete the folder afterwards. Sometimes that was messed up to and caused some loading bugs. I never encountered that error so...best o luck to you! Hope you get it up and running with a modern facelift. Or Diablo 2 Resurrected works fine too, but the oldshool mode looks wrong and too pixelated(at least on the console version - PC Version looks like a clean 1:1 and 4:3 image).

There is nothing special to do - it will do it automatically. Just make sure to start the game with -3dfx, after you copied the files "d2dx-defaults.cfg" and "glide3x.dll" to your Diablo 2 Installation.

@@k00kieed0hh2 Same problem for me ): What GPU did you have while having this issue? EDIT: Nevermind! I had 30 fps cap and also half refresh adaptive sync turned on in Nvidia Control Panel, and forgot about it (:_ It works with those set to default.
