I dunno if anyone shares the same feelings I do, but this music is so beautiful and nostalgic, it makes me want to cry, remembering the good old days of PC gaming. Matt Uelmen and everyone else at Blizzard at the time were simply amazing, saying they had a passion for what they were doing is a tremendous understatement. They were nothing but pure talent. I love all their old games and soundtracks so goddamn much. I hope someone else out there feels this way.

+nollix I think that today we are over-saturated with media. So many games and movies with just insane amounts of sharing on the web that it is very difficult to impact viewers. Back then, a game like this was just a staggering event. The atmosphere and the feeling of playing it was something that can never be replicated because in all reality, the world is a different place now. This was just magic then--everything aligned in just the right way to blow our minds and all of us who experienced it are very lucky indeed.

Absolutely - I feel the same way, and I share the sentiment of emotion when listening to the soundtracks or playing the games. I've spent so much time playing Diablo 1, Diablo 2, Starcraft 1 and Warcraft 2 that the games' sound design and experiences are embedded in my mind. They are all masterfully crafted.

Well said. The sound studio/mixers/post-production got it just right, too. Nothing is over produced, but they still managed to clean it up and make it sound perfect and totally captured the dark, foreboding feel I think the devs wanted to create with this game. Something completely lost in 3. Let's hope 4 is good. Otherwise, I'm likely to never purchase another title from Blizzard again.

Holy cow, i'm 21 and i already feel old when i listen to this, the game that started Everything for me since i was 6 y old, and i can imagine how you guys feel. If i'm feeling killer-nostalgia then you must be slowly dying from the poison of time. Believe me to this very day there hasn't been another game to impress me or one to doesn't instantly get compared, rejected and thrown into the flames by the Criteria D2 has shaped in me. I deeply appreciate the time and effort Devs throw in games....but if we're to be real, this game is a real PROOF masterpieces can be created. If this has been created once it can be done again. It's a fact. I don't think an excuse such as "Oh well you know graphics and animation take a lot of time and so its hard to make a good game", mhm yea i bet Diablo 2 needed "Unreal Engine 4" to have good HUD, character weapon, level, sound etc; designs which are x2 better than most today. Only Korean games have so far impressed me with new ideas. And i think they will be the future. They are the only Devs creating similar games to D2 with the only difference to D2 being better Graphics which is what we want. IM NOT ONE BIT SORRY FOR ALL THE HATE THIS COMMENT MIGHT GET. System Shock 2. the game must have loaded with error. the mission was to find 9 vials of green stuff, but I could only find 8. as I scowered the ship for the 9th one, the anguish caused by the Many and the Midwives and their soliloquies had me almost fainting. I stopped the game, reinstalled it after a while, it loaded all 9 vials, and I was able to finish the mission fast. also, King Pin.

Simply one of the best of all time. A composition so good if transcends the underrated genre of “video game music”. Well said! I feel this too. At the Canyon of the Magi there's a feeling of mystery, and that the mystery is beginning to unravel itself - it's so isolated and for a very long time few people visited the place, and you know there lies the secret of Tal Rasha and Baal. I felt like I didn't know what to expect, and all hell could break loose on me any time. There's also perhaps a sense of urgency, because you were hoping to get to Tal Rasha and Baal before Diablo. The music conveyed this feeling so well.
