Someone mentioned 1.09 in this run, and that took me back. The majority of my D2 experience in college (far too much, actually), was on patch 1.09. Before overpowered rune words invalidated 2/3 of the items in the game. Back in the days before synergies really locked you into cookie-cutter builds (not saying that there weren't cookie-cutter builds in 1.09, but the gap between meta and non-meta builds wasn't nearly as high). Back when the SoJ was not just king, it was currency. When reaching 99 was time-consuming, but achievable for most players without resorting to bots. Back when you didn't get awkward XP clamping before level 25. Back when Nova, Thunder Storm, Whirlwind, and many others were actually good for endgame. Back when Bowazons were actually top tier, thanks to the Guided Arrow pierce bug (which they should have just made a feature rather than fixing it, and just added some toning down of the damage, like 20% less damage each time it hits). Back when Durance 3 wasn't so insanely large. Back when you didn't risk a Realm Down and month long suspension because you accidentally mouse wheeled your abilities or switched games too quickly. Not everything about 1.09 was great, of course. Duping was insane (hence the SoJ situation). Eth bugged items were everywhere. No Ubers, no Diablo clone. Your only realistic endgame leveling was in Hell Cows. Hell Meph and Baal runs were just about the only viable MFing options. Dueling Sorcs would whine and cry about your dueling Barb wearing absorb gear, while they sit there with 75% DR.

Wait, the piercing thing was a bug? ...That explains why bowazons are so bad now. Also, I think you mean Durance 2. Durance 3 is the floor Meph is on and it hasn't changed.

@@yGKeKe Yeah, Durance 2. Typo. And yeah, it was a bug. They fixed it in 1.10, along with completely ignoring zon physical bow skills for rework or synergy. Hence why they're subpar ever since.

@@tawnos1787 Yeah, as much as I appreciate them trying to add more of a challenge etc...They kind of fucked the game when they added synergies and buffed every monster in hell to be immune to something. I used to run a sorc with Frozen Orb, Energy Shield, Thunderstorm and was actually really tanky because I could run things like Stormshield etc. That build was really fun. I came back and now it's like "Throw all your points into Blizzard + Synergies and just IGNORE 90% of the monsters in the game. Also you're going to die as soon as a monster farts in your general direction. Good luck, Champ!"

Summonmancer FTW! max out skeletons and mages with skeleton mastery, burning golem or iron golem for those pesky boss fights and raise dead for extra minions, plus curses of weakness enemy self damage and life steal, and spend some points on poison nova and bone spear and bone armor, you almost become untouchable.

you can just use the fishymancer build. it includes the skeletons, skeleton mastery and corpse explosion. other than that you can either put 1 point into the fire golem and max out bone spear, or just max out a golem and golem mastery. the mercenary and the golem gets the first kill and then you just spam corpse explosion. I could finish the game in normal in around 4 hours and I considered myself fast back then. xD

Can someone explain to me why he does a few things he does? For example, farming countess runes just to make stealth? Why not just play without it? As a sorc I guess getting a lower resist charge wand removes immunities?

Stealth gives 25% fcr, frw, and fhr. It’s extremely helpful for survival and speed. (Faster teleporting and faster running entire speedrun)

With a Zealot in single player it's gonna take a lot of time. Maybe 2-3 month or something I don't know your free time. it takes 5525 Baal runs on players 8 from 90 to 99. I don't know your gear but I assume you don't have enigma and grief. I would say one Baal run would take you 5-10 minutes. I guess about 20-40 days real time game play.

Seriously, seeing you quit/restart D2 so fast (part of a Speedrunner's thing, sure), I've sometimes wondered ... if you weren't thinking everything through, in those split-seconds it takes you to quit/restart, that it would jump up and bite you on the arse. You should consider veganism, homedog. Chicken or Steak at Chipotle comes from factory farmed chickens and cows who endure immense suffering and we can just get our nutrients from plant foods instead.
