It honestly just needs some better items like bracers to help us take reduce damage and what not. My build is very powerful atm I can do just about gr 75 with bone spear atm. After that its a bust..I just get one shotted against ranged.

pestilence has a lot of potential but right now surviving is just impossible past 80, i have a 2K paragon with all ancients pestilence best weapons rings etc and at 80 + it becomes a pain, such a shame, this build needs skills, placement, very good resource management (if not you just instantly die) so it's a great challlenging build but a few things have to be changed

My first hardcore death was with the pestilence set. Bonestorm is heaps more survivable and tragul has insane dmg but horrible to play hardcore, rathma is all round good too.

trang'oul actually has most of the top slots in hardcore seasonal using a corpse lance build, also possible to push over gr 105 with thorns revive minions using trang'oul.

Blizzard's approach to game balance: Nerf the gem that's only useful in a specific build due to some cool interactions because it's not "working as intended", instead of the one that every single build uses because it's too strong not to use. Okay...

Nothing new... i mean look at the difference in effectiveness between all gems and sets in this game, and then consider how garbage LoN is in most cases on most classes. They don't give a flying crap and they never truly have. They know what people want (as evident when they added LoN) but they don't want to put the work forward to making it viable. For Blizzard, "Working as intended" means you are playing the way THEY WANT YOU TO PLAY. Fuck that. If the leader boards of one class does not have equal status with the rest, then fix that class! I want to see rabid competition between every class for the highest clear of the GR levels. As it is now, I suspect that will never happen.

they didn't nerf the gem itself, they nerfed the proc rate of the bone storm so it wouldn't spam the gem so much. It's unfortunate since bone storm now almost never procs the gem, have to use your skills to make it go off, still works pretty well though. Starting to think however that wreathe of lightning might be better, corpse lance does some great work on single targets and wreath of lightning offers somewhat similar damage at a slightly lower proc rate but in an AoE.

Blizzard needs to look at the leaderboard players before nerfing. They have to keep in mind that people are playing with non-seasonal specs, so the top players have over 3000 Paragon points and some really high gems. I am right at GR82 with Paragon 1340s, with lvl 80-90 gems, and only half my armor is ancient, and 2 pieces have been augmented. This GR lvl seems pretty consistent to other classes' best builds with similar specs. I was right around this on the Wizard with less paragon points, so I see no need to nerf the build. What they need to do is buff the other builds to make them more viable prior to season 11!!!

I have noticed this build really struggles against elites with the Juggernaut affix, since you're unable to slow or stun them which are the two primary ways to buff our damage. I usually just skip them.

I am pretty sure that skipping Juggernauts is correct for all Necromancer builds, as you never get Krysbin's bonus damage on it...

I played with each of them a bit - you can reach GR 70 with each (so all of them are Season-viable), but if you use Krysbin's (and why wouldn't you? It gives you more damage than any other ring available to Necro) you'll struggle with Juggernauts. In GR 70 it's not as noticable in case of stronger builds (Inarius, Rathma, pet Trag'Oul), but for example Pestilence struggles against Juggernauts so much that you probably should always skip them.

FYI the Reilena's Shadowhook ability only increases damage from paragon points put in to Maximum Essence, giving you a 25% damage boost when you max it out. Increasing your essence through other means does not give you a damage boost from this item.

A bit confused... I have Traveller's Pledge and Compass Rose equipped. So that means I must (MUST) use Wisdom of Kalan as my cube jewelry power. Which leaves one ring slot. Taking Unity completely eviscerates this build, and you lose Krysbin's Sentence. So, the whole build is built around slowing and stunning and freezing enemies. Which means Krysbin's is MANDATORY. (Solo and two player co-OP) Please let me know what I'm missing!

I don't think the wording on shadowhook means you get the damage bonus for your original 200 essence points. It specifically says maximum essence points. 100% extra damage from the get go seems pretty op

Yep better nerf the strongest Necro build that is STILL BEHIND Wizards... By several GR levels. Logic?... Went that way -----> And the 6 sec base duration on skeleton mages makes pet builds spammy as hell. That is NOT why people play Summoners. Spamming the same ability over and over and over and over to keep mages and damage up is beyond annoying on the Rhatma set. Even with the ring it triggers me... There's a difference between an "active build", and an annoying one that just spams the same ability non stop just to actually function.

Yea, pet build on necro is beyond "fucking annoying" I've tested the blood and ill attempt rathmas set, but all of them have the same issue: The necro = squishy and the pets = spammmmmmm. That's not fun, I enjoy not having to spam shit ever time i encounter a new pack... I like being able to skip packs with the blood dash. They need to fix the other sets... or i'll just go roll wizard.

Because there are leaderboards. When the season starts, ideally, every class should be equally capable of placing 1st. That, of course, isn't the case, but that is what balance is important in D3. Hell, even D2 has had updates as recently as 2007 (I think) and that game hasn't been on shelves for almost 20 years.

Never nerfing is how the game power creeped to the point of only allowing one real viable build in each class right now. They keep buffing items instead of adjusting them on the downward scale, yet they take ages to buff everything else along side them. I love the Bonestorm builds. Though I've been running the Aura Frailty curse just to make things easy on myself. I keep the belt up with Scythe swings easy enough. Though I do get chewed up a bit in higher Grifts, so I'll probably try out this set up and see how it feels. Not having even a single ancient piece yet probably doesn't help.

also: I doubt the unity ring -i went 91 and didn't die once with Krisbins ring - and few of my 85+rifts incurred dying.. What i do when entering a rift is land of the dead immediately to stop damage, then trigger bone armour to get the stacks - as this build is at its most vulnerable at the start of the rift

I have been tinkering with this build. It's a great one btw, but I found a workaround with the essence generation. Trade out grim scythe for devour, devouring aura. Only use corpse lance under the effect of land of the dead. Using this will get you unlimited decrepifies. I've been using the build this way all night. Take it how you will. Just thought I would put my opinion out there.

i just don't understand why Blizzard wants to nerf this build. The Mirinae proc rate may not be 'working' as intended, but helps the power level of the necromancer to fourth place behind wizard GR 109, crusader GR 108, witch doctor GR 107. The current necro top is GR 104 with an eye watering paragon 4156. I would argue that when compared to these classes, the Inarius set is not overpowered. And we are using a much neglected legendary gem.

I don't know about anyone else, but switching from Aquila's in the cube to the Pauldrons resulted in my getting me arse handed to me. Prior to switching that cube item, I did a GR 75 in 10 min. Now I can't survive to save my life in the same level GR. Plus changing the two passives that Rhykker recommended opposed to his first BONESTORM build video, seems to be making things even worse. Can't figure out what I'm missing and how this is better? UPDATE: Switched passives back to Rhykker's original BONESTORM video and replaced Pauldrons in cube back to Aquila's and I ran a GR 78 in 10:30 seconds. Usually he's right on the money, but I'm not sure this time? If he reads this, I sure would like to get his input. As stated above, did the GR 75 in 10:00 flat before changing the few things he mentioned in this video.

I haven't been able to touch GR70 with any of my toons until now. I know it has to do with gearing and paragon levels. I play on the PS4. yesterday using this build I cleared GR70. I'm not optimized. after clearing it a friend of mine told me after looking at my toon that I shouldn't have been able to do it yet. I cleared it with 3 minutes to spare and no deaths at paragon level 598 with 2 ancient pieces and no optimization. My miranae, BotT, pain enhancer are all level 50, flawless royal emerald in weapon, diamond in helm, 2 diamond and 3 topaz in armor slots. basically I'm looking for validation from the community that this is done on a fairly regular basis to shut him up.

Rhykker, I have to disagree with the priority of the defense paragon points. If you reset the defense points, then add just one point to the top 3, then per point Resist All gives you a greater increase in overall toughness over the other two per point. Per point, the increases in toughness are Resist All, Armor, then Life. Also, do you have any hardcore guides lying around? If not, can you suggest anyone that does?

This build gives a lot of % health as lifesteal from leech and mirinae's. That is likely why he prioritizes life. Then prioritizing armor second because the stand alone passive buffs it by 100%, as does the blood rush rune. Also, intelligence gives a bunch of all resist already

I like this build a lot but what do you think about substituting skeletal mages for bone armor? I found that with Grim Scythe you can build up essence quickly in mobs, and drop skeletal mages. Then you use to decrypify-borrowed time only for it’s passive rune. Use trag’ouls scythe to curse everything with Grim scythe?

Watching this again in April of 2019...Blizz said - according to his video - that a "slight nerf" was incoming. Well, they nerfed the build so fucking hard into the ground, that it is not viable at all anymore and nowadays everyone is playing basically the same build with necromancer. You either play Pestilence Corpse Lance or Traq'Oul Corpse Lance, with a few exceptions playing Rathma Mages (Rat Mages is especially nuts in a group setting). So, yeah...Necros today are playing to builds, that use literally the same main skill (Corpse Lance) and general gameplay. This build used a legendary gem, that wasn't used at all in this game (Mirinae, Teardrop of the Starweaver). Blizz nerfed that, too. So, yeah, thanks for nerfing a unique playstyle, that used an item no one else was using to death and making it so, that basically everyone is playing the same build with a slight variant in set choice. Blizz might as well remove Miriniae from the game at this point.

Since D3 came out, most of the cool builds have been accidents that they didn't intend. And Blizz nerfs them as fast as they can find them(even if they are not overpowered) to make sure the game remains as bad and boring and irritating and pointless and not fun as possible. They do this because they are stupid. They have an idea that they can't let go of, which, on the surface, seems reasonable. It's to make proportional the power of a build to the difficulty of playing it. That sounds good from a math/logic perspective. Sounds kind of fair. But for blizzard, 'hard' seems to mean irritating. i.e. low 'quality of life.' So one net result is that everybody is forcibly funneled into the build that is least fun to play. The second deleterious effect is that it leaves one best build, and no build diversity. No creativity. No uniqueness, nothing that sets your character apart from the one next to you, unless you just want to be significantly objectively weaker, and therefore irrelevant. The point that blizzards misses is that the point of playing video games is FUN. They need to hire a psychologist or two to joint the design team to advise them on what is fun for human beings, because there is a wide base of knowledge on that subject. Feeling special, unique, creative is a crucial aspect of human fun. But feeling irrelevant and unable to compete destroys fun for most males. So you need build diversity allowing for creativity and a feeling that your build is at least partially your own creation; and you need many of those builds to be comparable in capability. That doesn't mean the same in all areas. They could have different strengths and weaknesses if they are overall comparable. Path of Exile accomplishes this with no problem, and Blizzard has done so accidentally in the past, with the LoN set, and back at the launch of the game before there were sets at all. But blizzard quickly moves to destroy anything they accidentally stumble across that might seem more fun than they intended. These people work against themselves, and I've only mentioned the tippy tippity tip top of the proverbial iceberg. I'm telling you, these people have low IQ. They can't wrestle with multiple concepts simultaneously. They've demonstrated this over and over and over again for years. If they create a Diablo 4, they need to leave this team on this game, or fire them, and start hiring based on IQ(just ask Jordan Peterson or any psychometricist). Otherwise they will fail over and over because they can't figure out or grasp relevant concepts, as we see with this team. The sad thing is, they started with a template(Diablo 2) that was immensely successful. All they really had to do was to copy it with better graphics and eliminating the bugs, duping and spam, adjust balance. But they didn't comprehend *why* Diablo 2 was successfully, so they changed almost all of the most important aspects of their template.

I've really enjoyed all of the necromancer sets and I hope they do change a few things here and there to bring some of em more in line with this one. Yeah not every set can be perfectly balanced with one another but going from the rathmas set which I love to this set makes rathmas seem pointless as you have to do less work with inarius and you deal more consistent damage.

I don't get it, Crusaders, WD and Wizards can solo 107+ Grifts and well rolled Monk's and DH's can do 100-105. Why does a Necro build that can do 107 Grifts utilising an obscure gem need nerfing? As it stands now it fits perfectly into the game.

The argument to not take Overwhelming Essence seems to be a better argument to skip spreading malediction. I'd rather take a guaranteed 12-13% buff vs. smaller packs like elites and RGs than having to spam decrepify all over the screen for trash. I'm sure that might be different for GR 100+ density though.

I'm sad the pet build isn't stronger... The Necro for me has always been about summoning hoards of skeletons and other minions. With this build it feels more like a Barb than my d2 fav Necro...

im playing this build or the last one u posted on xbox. ive been grinding like crazy for the armor but got all pieces except for boots.
