I feel it's worth mentioning that you really need to be careful of Dune Dervishes and Sand Dwellers when using this build, because they can reflect your damage back at you, which will more often than not, one shot you, or at least trigger your extra life passive. It's best to avoid them like the plague.

Oh, the joy of playing with an inexperienced Shadow-Impale guy in T13 public rifts... One guy actually managed to kill all 3 of us other guys from one shot, he literally got a triplekill. (I was WD so I had to stand in the middle of the fight for my firebats to deal their damage :/)

Tips : the slow effect from Shadow power only last 5 sec upon activation, not forever (it only affect mouvement speed and is almost useless). Very important : if you can facetank the boss then don't vault everywhere, you're loosing damage. Strongharm bracers don't proc on rift guardians. You can refresh your elusive ring buff with Shadow power (it cost 8 or 7 and the buff last 8 seconds, so you can sustain the cost)

Rhykker, great video as always. A couple of comments about Impale runes: Ricochet extra hits DO proc Karlei's hatred return, but Overpen's pierced attacks DO NOT (this is a common misconception and oft repeated, but it is untrue). What makes Overpen a good choice is that it has the highest damage potential by a small margin. That said, your advice was perfect, just pick the rune that you can best support with your gear. Rhykker, when fighting the Rift Guardian, you should position yourself near the RG, to make all the three knives hit him at once, thus tripling your damage. This will make the RG killing even faster

gotta say i´ve always gone with UE and did this season aswell. I have always been sceptical about shadow impale but i randomly got a pretty good primal karlei´s so i figured i might aswell try Shadow. So into my first rift i go it is a gr 80 and i breeze through it without even seeing my health move so i decided to push a little and managed to push to 91 pretty much instantly. Really happy with impale after trying it now

Have to be able to hit enemies multiple times to get the hatred refund. If you're 1 shotting stuff you'll run out of hatred. i took bolas to generate hatred till I was used to doing no generators.

Last season I had an ancient Elusive Ring equipped and then a Ring of the Zodiac in the cube. I preferred the playstyle where I didn't have to worry about CD reduction. Sure not having CoE will hurt your damage, but for people who aren't interested in pushing high GR levels or like to just do regular rifts, consider this option!

I can understand the general concepts of which 4-6 stats seem to be the best for each gear piece, but I'm wondering about the intricacies of knowing which tradeoffs in stats to make on one gear piece for another and what thresholds to prioritize (aside from cooldown) in your cumulative stats. tl;dr: How do pros think about rolling stats across gear pieces? Thanks! (Also, if you have any other knowledge you think is useful to share about stats, will gladly look for those, too! For example, how elemental damage is chosen across weapons/off-hand, when cooldown is additive vs multiplicative, etc. Haven't found any clear resources yet. Thanks!)

Hi! Two things that i can't understand after i ckecked d3planner: 1. Why we want +15% Impale damage on helm and quiver? I thought it only affects 750% impale base damage but not a 75.000% weapon damage from 6-piece bonus, making this bonus meaningless. Correct me if i wrong. 2. How to negate Stone Gauntlets movenment and attack speed reduction? if it cannot be negated, why we even swaps from Aquila Cuirass to Stone gauntlets?

Also i vault with right clicks, impale with left click, fan of knives with 1, vengeance with 2, pet with three and last one with 4. Spamming regularly 1 and 2 while playing and 1,2,3 while killing élites is way more easy To handle this Build. I replaced coe with obsidian ring because it is more stable for me.

It's definitely an elite targeting set up. That depends on rifts with a lot of elites. What I get a lot is thousands of little flies, critters, and those hell witches that cause a lot of damage and give little to no rift progress. (7 elites over 8 floors)

If you wanted to be the most glass cannon possible, you could use Frostburn in the cube instead of Aquilla with the cold Impale.

I would say that if you don't have any CDR on most of your pieces that need it, use a obsidian ring to help balance that out and once you get good CDR on your pieces, then you could go for COE for that extra burst

Can you use Marked for Death with Grim Reaper rune instead of companion? It gives 15% damage for 30 seconds, and with the grim reaper rune enemies around the marked enemy receive 15% damage(spread evenly) of what the main marked enemy takes. That means they get 15% damage(evenly spread among all enemies within x yards) of 50,000% weapon damage that the first hit(marked) elite takes(Without any other buffs that hurt elites, stone of jordan, legend gems etc). For example. If I head towards an elite pack with trash all around it, I mark the elite with Marked for death. I hit him with impale(50,000%) on first hit, then the rest x yards around him get hit for what's equivalent of 7,500% weapon damage, not? Am I misunderstanding how the skills works?

Isn't this build broken? I can't seem to rely on Karlei's Point to generate hatred cos enemies constantly get 1 shot, including blue and yellow monsters. I just got the Holy Point Shot and Karlei's an hour after I dinged 70, and increased difficulty till Torment XV and I still 1 shot everything and get 1 shotted myself pretty easy too.

You need the Elusive Ring to get toughness :) On lower difficulty, this build runs into hatred issues because you kill things too fast. There are tweaks you can make to the build for lower difficulty, to focus on greater resource generation. To start, take Vengeance: Seethe; as a passive, Blood Vengeance. Companion: Bat companion. Preparing: Punishment. These are all options you can take for more Hatred :)

@@Rhykker - I have the Elusive Ring (equipped, not cubed), and still get 1 shot pretty easily. I had to use Awareness to avoid this. Yeah, on lower difficulties is pretty strong with 0 Hatred generation, T15 isn't really considered the lower difficulties though.... I swapped out companion with Bola with Imminent Doom and I cubed the Emimei's Duffel so my Bolas explode instantly and Fan of Knives with Assassin's Blades. That seems to be working for now.

Rhykker just one adjustment id like to make to this build. Instead of cubing the aquila cuirass wouldnt it be better to cube the visage of gunes? It has the same dmg reduc as the cuirass and no penalty for being below 90% resource plus it allows u to freely choose a rune on vengeance like seethe.

Hey Rhykker, what's up? :) I got a little question: when your demon hunter is over 800 paragon levels, how do you divide your points in vitality and dexterity? For instance, I saw that you spent 0 points in vitality, is this the way to go on demon hunter, to push everything in dexterity for more damage? Great question Lau! The simple answer: you put as much Dexterity as you possibly can handle :) If you feel you're dying too much, then put some into vitality :) I always put everything into Dex

Rhykker I found your Ninja DH vid here and its awesome, I noticed you had a bleeding gem recommended but may I point out that the *Poison* legendary gem reduces 10% damage received and does 10% more damage from any attack source. My Ninja DH isn't optimized yet but I'm already mopping up T13 and GR60 without best gear. The console Impale doesn't have cold damage so I left quiver physical % damaged.

Why the Aquila Cuirass? Wouldn't the Visage of Gunes' Dark Heart rune for Vengence be better since you'll run Vengance 100% and won't lose the 50% DR when you hit the Hatred to hard? or ar these interchangeable?

omega552003 this build will generally always sit at 100% hatred to the aquilla is pretty much always active. If you are having hatred issues you need to up the difficulty. If you were to use the dark heart helm there is no other vengeance rune that gives us any kind of benefit.

I thought this build made Shadow Power last forever, but I get a 2x toughness buff when I push it in combat that goes away after 6 seconds or whatever same as if I used it normally? Scout follower, with Ess of Johan(for pulls), Oculus ring(to proc the 80% dmg buff), Buriza-Do Kyanon (piercing crossbow) will hit 3x for every auto attack increase that with Attackspeed rolls. This will proc your Ess of Johan a lot more, You also want gems in the rings/neck of your follower. Iceblink/Poison for the 10% dmg's

Great Video, keep it on:) I have a short Question: I returned 1 week ago to D3 and wanted to update my DH Impale build, i noticed that my old Karlei´s Point passive only says "Return 15 hatred on hit" and not the extra % DMG to Imaple? Did i miss something? Did they reworked Karlei´s? Do i have to farm a new one to get the extra DMG to Imapel D:? Or is only the description of the old one wrong and i still get the % DMG buff? Would be very happy if someone could answer an returnig player:D

Newbie here. Could someone please explain the math behind why we need 37% CDR in order to have permanent vengeance? Vengeance lasts 20 seconds, with a cooldown of 90s: the way I understand it is, in order to have it permanently we want to reduce the cooldown to 20 seconds, so when the effect has ended, we are ready to cast it again, hence the permanency. To bring 90s down to 20s (which is 22.2% of 90) we need a reduction of 77.8%. Obviously I am missing something on how the CDR works... any help explaining this would be highly appreciated

Never mind, I figured it out myself (I think). I assume this takes into account the 65% CDR reduction from Dawn. So, with Dawn, Vengeance goes down to 31.5 seconds (90 - 90*65/100) and then if you have 37% on top of that, you get (31.5 - 31.5*37/100) = 19.845s which means by the time Vengeance is finished (20s) it's ready to be cast again.

I noticed this problem too, in lower rifts since the mob density isn't as high. What I did to solve this is take off one of my active skills and replace it with Bolas. This gave me the hatred I needed to pass the lower levels. Once you get up to higher rifts where there is just a massive amount of mobs everywhere, as long as you aim in their general direction, you won't have a problem. I also recommend swapping a passive out for Blood Vengeance. For your disc problems, as long as you impale before vaulting, you generally should not have any problems with it at all.

Update : 2 leg dagger available in season 16. I crafted about 15 dagger from yellow dagger and Guess what ? No ancient impale dagger, not even à normal one ^^ recraft gave me my ancient one after 9 try. Not à bad one tho
