Having watched this it feels like we're the bad guy. Lilith seems to want to stop the endless war and we messed up those plans and allowed a Prime evil to escape with a new host.

It is all about this. This moral conflict. In my vision, she wasn't bad or good, but ingenuous. As Lorath (If i remember well) said, "They made us in their image", and than the humankind continue their conflict of evil and good. It is just humankind nature. Her plan was to purge Sanctuary of humanity and start over from scratch, we’ve seen her use her power to bring out the absolute worst in humans, and not to mention she remained in Scosglen to watch Donan learn that his son has become Astaroth’s host. So she’s more of an anti-villain and we’re here to stop her from trying to bring about her plan. I know some people wanted to side with her but even if the villain has a good idea the way they do it is not ideal.

Lilith was just an absolute masterpiece here. Design, voice acting and her story is just wonderfully executed. It's really hard for me to see her as a bonafide villain even with the mountain of corpses shes left behind. But the ending though. Don't tell me it's Diablo I ending all over again.

I think when you are in the drowned temple or something Elias explains Lilith as beyond good or evil. I think the ending of Diablo IV was meant as a tragedy. It didn't matter that you killed Lilith and in the end you've probably made it far worse than before.

Yeah, the way Lilith's death it wasn't like the other prime's death where the character stabs them and they burst into flame or anything but here we get her pain from losing her son to what would happen to the world she and Inarius created. However she did killed Donan's son and caused so much suffering just like Inarius did. For Lilith, I see her as the corruption in humanity and for Inarius, leading the fanatics to where they would even kill the main characters at the end. Otherwise, Diablo 4 is indeed a tragedy rather then a battle of Hell vs Heaven.

I would say her story was wonderful if she didn’t try her damnest to alienate the horadrim and completely avoid contact with the wanderer. The story was too convoluted. Lilith pointlessly created spectacles which drew attention to her; and the Andariel summoning was pointless. Inarius was supposed to be her foil, but he was played so over the top from the start and had next-to-no impact on the plot or player’s expectations. They had some interesting ideas: Lilith causing a crisis in Scosglen to produce someone capable of defeating Asteroth. But so much of it was mishandled, and the game played out predictably as a result.

I do not know if Lilith's true plans were ever revealed anywhere. For all we know, she wanted to ultimately destroy EVERYTHING and then remake it in her own image. If so, Sanctuary itself being the union of devil and angel, the new reality would be 100% devil, so, probably not great. Maybe she would leave Sanctuary as-is but just conquer / blow up both hell and heaven, who knows. My question is, where the bloody hell are the nephalem? Where is our boy, Tyrael? Ah well, maybe we'll find out in whatever expansion deals with the fact they INTENTIONALLY BROUGHT MEPHISTO'S ESSENCE BACK TO SANCTUARY. I'm sure that will end well.

Ive never played Diablo or ever thought much about the franchise.. but I just recently decided to check out the full "Cinematic movie cutscenes", & BY THE LIGHT the Quality of the script, the voice acting, the design & beautifully created graphics are Epic, but the Score is what brings it all together & brings it to an even higher level. The score at every main event had me on the edge of my seat, as if I was sitting in the halls where Lillith is born again, in the church, in the battle for sanctuary. I made myself stop halfway through just to start from the very beginning so I can experience the chronological order of the lore. & man it was so worth it. How the Fuck does every movie have 200 million dollar budgets yet they cant get anywhere near the quality of cinema from a video game cutscene! Im still never gonna play, but the fact that they even included some parts of the gameplay that had important dialog was included to tell the story coherently, whixh alot of these channels dont do, is greatly appreciated.

I saw many in comments say that Lillith didn't deserve what she got and that she was right all along or that she was the good character in this story. well, she's not perfect either... manipulating mankind, thinking that only if the strong would remain she would have an army to defeat hear father and uncles. ultimately it ended up being here undoing. I kind of think this is the entire message behind Diablo franchise as a whole - the cycle continues, fathers and mothers, daughters and sons committing the same mistakes until someone would break the cycle. how? nobody knows.

Finding it neat as much as Lilith talks about family and humans empowering themselves, two of the people bound to stop her are very tied to this, pushing themselves over in memory of their loved ones. Neyrelle is a daughter, and Donan is a father.

I am so confused.. this story makes no damn sense.. okay so in D2... the hell forges are designed to destroy anything forever. Mephisto was perma dead from diablo 2 from getting his very soul shattered. This lore was retcon'd in D3 because the witch adria somehow.. never explained how she did it gathered up the souls of all the prime evils and forced them into the black soul stone.. which she didnt even know the location of... at the end of D2 the world stone is destroyed. The world stone was a device used to limit the nephalem to make them what they call mortal by the angels. Then siphon the souls of the mortals into it. Because mortals are made from the union of lilith and inarius. So the world stone could be tuned to seal the souls of angels and demons into it because of this. Hell found out about sanctuary because heaven attacked it. Lilith got kicked out of hell. Then Inarius got kicked out of heaven. Inarius then betrays his children and lilith by killing his own son to earn his way back into heaven. Diablo somehow learned oh if our souls get trapped in the soul stones we can become even stronger.... which is a plot point that makes no sense and never did. Then D3 goes hehehe it was all diablo's plan from D1 to all this so Diablo could trap all the souls of the evils into 1 stone to become legion to destroy the heavens. Here is the biggest problem tho... With the world stone destroyed in D2 going into D3 mortals should no longer be mortal. The nephalem returned and mortals started awakening their true powers once again. They should be immortal again. To fix this Mathael became the conduit of death to pull in all the souls of mortals into himself. Then tried to kill everyone in sanctuary. There should not be any weak mortals left... mathael nearly took sanctuary out with his reapers. Those who remained should in the 50 year time skip should be legendary badass gods that could blow demons and angels away with ease. What happen? Like where is the nephalem from diablo 3? They became a literal god at the end that defeated all the evils in nephalem leahs body that Tyrael was shitting bricks over after they killed death itself fused mathael with the black soul stone. There is nothing in the diablo universe who could stop them. Thats why Tyrael was like.. well damn either they will protect us forever or destroy everything.. only time will tell. diablo 4 is acting as if.. D3 never happened and the world stone didnt limit mortals. That mortals simply became weak without the blood of a demon or angels light to worship. Its very confusing..

What would be a good aternative is to see inarius gets redeemed after his years of torture, he turned into a better Angel or worst, he becomes a bad guy and they show us how he escaped making the story more consitent. Furthermore, they could make him awar the event that took place before (eg, diablo invading heaven, Mathael become angel of death..etc). I doubt he knows the heaven were attacked? I would have let Lilith take Mephisto's essence for an alternative view The prime evil will always come after sometimes. Another point would be a meeting between Him and Tyreal? I would like to see this since Tyreal became a human maybe inarius will have a change if he listens to his (boss) Story wise, Diablo may be repeating its self but there are so many ways to make it interesting. It is more about the unique interactions and what if scenarios. It was a bit dissapointing to see Inarius's ending go so fast after he has been teased for his come back. It is unclear if he is dead or his essence is now trapped in hell? We can always speculate

Well if you are looking for a redeem storyline, then you have the wrong game, Diablo has consistently shown that redemption arcs aren't it's way of storytelling, I knew Inarius was going to be defeated in that battle the moment they showed him to be "all powerful", but we don't know if Inarius's story is done yet, we've seen that angels can survive a stab to the gut (Imperius) and can survive wings being pulled off (Tyrael), so we might see a mortal Inarius in an expansion

Either Lilith is a moron, Elias lied to her, or she is lying about her end goal. We never find out what she is really after, but it has nothing to do with "Awakening" humanity into a new moral framework. She doesn't even use humans to fight for her, for fuck's sake. It's just a ton of demons in Hell. There are tons of people who saw the full story and ending, and STILL believe Lilith actually cared about "her children." Obviously, she doesn't and never did, but somehow most people aren't getting the message. Two cinematics of Lilith lying to Elias and suddenly she is the good guy. It's like someone said "We could do a scene like the church scene in the Kingsman! Lilith turns them and they murder the priest! It will be awesome! Who cares if it fits the story at all?!"

A little bit disappointed at the fact that most of the plot is a cat and mouse game between the player and Lilith. I was kind of expecting her influence vs Inarius’ religious order battling. But it’s still doing a good job at keeping me hooked throughout the story. So not too bad, just a bit disappointing. Also wtf is that ending? Wtf Neyrelle!
