I think the role of the woman preacher in the cinematic was to show how Inarius may not necessarily be on our side. As she comes off to me as a bit of a fanatic with going barefoot and praying in front of the tower shields instead of behind. If Tyrael had been leading this army its unlikely he'd of encouraged or even let her go into the danger zone. But Inarius doesn't care, he only cares that they are serving his interest and his needs. Which is why I am speculating we the player are going to be caught in between both Inarius and Lilith's feud. And Diablo given he hasn't missed out on a Diablo game yet, will somehow return either after we defeat those two, or he'll force an 11th hour team up to stop him.

This trailer manages to really capture the feel of Diablo in two major ways. First: Angels and Demons reeally aren't that different, both are cold and uncaring about their worshipers, so it doesn't matter which side you're on because Sanctuary really blows. Two: Finally a powerful character that FEELS powerful. Inarius the Archangel is not here to mess around, and you can tell because he has some heft to him. That kerchunk when he lands really hammers home how strong he is, and you don't get that in a lot of CGI, it tends to feel very floaty.

@@andrewverrett568 He could; in Diablo Lore the Angels are far more powerful than the Demons. One Angel could slaughter dozens of demons; the biggest exception being the Seven Lords of Hell. The trade off though is Demons have numbers; they can spawn in massive amounts where as the Angels are actually finite in number. They cannot reproduce and when one dies it takes time for a new Angel to be born within the High Heavens to take it's place. The Eternal Conflict is Eternal heavily because Hell does not have remotely enough power to break into Heaven and Heaven lacks the numbers and means to effectively siege Hell.

The first three games of the Diablo franchise was about the Prime Evils seducing humanity to use them in the eternal conflict. Until more plot is discovered, the fourth game is about the Mother (Lilith) and Father (Inarius), creators of humanity, taking their creation back from the hand of the other. I wonder if we'll be able to choose a side :D This is probably a cinematic between two acts, because it reveals a lot. Like, what is Inarius doing there? He was imprisonned in hell for thousands of years, tortured by Mephisto, Lord of Hatred. And now is there, free, commanding a legion of badass humans and telling Lilith "I returned to hell for you." I believe we, as the player, will have to free Inarius so he can help against Lilith. However, it will be worse. Althought Inarius is an archangel, he fears humanity. Lilith intend to use it's creation to end the eternal conflict, but she loves her children.

Addendum to your bit, Mephisto is Lilith's FATHER, which is why this is a thing (Heaven & Hell for once decided to gang up on the 2 to penalize em for this "traitor" shit of trying to flee The Conflict cuz of getting tired of it (of course it's not just the 2, some other Angels & Demons decided to also take refuge in Sanctuary)) Also AFAIK Inarius is your typical Absolute Justice type of zealot, but it's not like Lilith ain't also a manipulative person as well, even if her love for her "children" (in quotes because they only had 1 child AFAIK (Rathma), the other Nephilim should be the offspring of other Angels & Demons (w/ a bit of mix & match on their offspring once they breed among themselves as well) who followed after their example (the reason technically only the 2 are generally referred w/ these terms, is cuz they basically kickstarted that shit, and Rathma is the 1st Nephalem AFAIK)) is real on some level. I might agree w/ her if she plans to use this to wipe out BOTH Angel & Demon factions, leaving only Humans (+ a few atavistic Nephalem, albeit none of these are as OP as 1st gen Nephalem are, for obvious reasons) in existence (well besides God, whose corpse is effectively the universe, I guess.

She didn't love her children; she loved their potential. However, Inarus was fearful of it, so he tried to seal it. Lilith started a civil war to prevent sealing, which ended with the discovery of the Sanctuary and the almost extinction of Nephalems and all the angels and demons who joined them. In their desperation, Nephalems tried to seize more force, which backfired, and their offspring were cursed, destroying all their hope and future. Humans are the cursed offsprings of Naphelems, natives of the destroyed Sanctuary.

Some corrections: - Inarius and Lilith created the race of Nephalem, specifically; they're not what you'd call 'regular' humans. Akin to say... having humans with "Meta" power levels in something like the Marvel or DC universes (not an exact analogy but it's the gist of it, the Nephalem have the potential to defeat both Demons and Angels, but a 'regular' human wouldn't be able to). - Inarius is not an 'Arch' Angel anymore, and not part of either the High Heavens or the Angiris Council. He's considered a 'rogue' Angel and was deprived of his 'role' among his kind. I'm not sure if he has the "right" to go to High Heavens to start with. I'd assume he only spent time as a prisoner first in Hell, then fell in love with Lilith there; then they spent time together probably still in Hell until they created Sanctuary where they both spent time. What isn't certain for now until D4 comes out is: - Why did Lilith need to be 'summoned' back to Sanctuary in the first D4 trailer? She _created_ Sanctuary with Inarius. Having to be "summoned" there is weird. I'm not sure what happened that would require a summoning so she can be "back" to Sanctuary. Nor is it clear as to why or even what exactly made her leave Sanctuary in order for a summoning to be required to bring her back. I hope that part will be clarified in the game. - Where will Diablo himself fit in this game? I'm not sure if we'll see him again, even though the franchise is still called Diablo. In D3, he reached the absolute pinnacle of any Demonic form (Diablo Prime) and got killed by the Nephalem. There's _nothing_ more powerful for a Demon beyond the status of 'Prime', next to Tathamet itself. So if Diablo does come back he'd be weaker than he was in D3 if he's anything below a Prime Evil again. But yeah D4 I think has a lot of good potential going for it. Time will tell.

Lol, Lilith and Inarius didn't fall in love in hell, they fell in love after Lilith captured him outside the pandemonium fortress, and shared in his dream of setting aside the great conflict. They stole the world stone from the fortress, and made sanctuary. Also we know why Lilith needed to be summoned, Inarius banished her to the Void after she went on a killing spree when her children were threatened, and after she came back from this banishment he did it again, but Ina way to keep her gone.

Inarius, an archangel, and Lilith, who is the daughter of Mephisto, are very important characters from the Diablo universe's past and have a very personal history between them. There is even a Sin War trilogy of books in which they are important characters. Other than that Inarius really does have a imposing presence in the cinematic though he mainly spends the time floating around the battlefield looking for Lilith. Blizzard's cinematics are impressive, as always.

Most ARPGs feature humanity "on the brink" fighting off hordes of evil demons / zombies / whatever with a rag-tag last vestige force scattered and beaten. The tone of this battle flips that trope completely on it's head. Humanity is on offense, in matching heavy armor, employing advanced tactics, literally in hell. You almost feel bad for the demons.

the return of the Zakarum Paladins... that symbol is EVERYWHERE. Remember that the Templars were a splinter group that broke off before total corruption of the church, and the Crusaders were formed from an offshot years before any of the corruption began, haring off to follow their Master's legacies, using Akarat as a role model. Crusaders were always more tied to the Westmarch area, whereas the main Zakarum faith was centered at Kurast/Travincal.

Yeah, the Game Awards has gotten huge in the last 10 years. It stop being just an award ceremony and became a big event for announcements for some time now. Now, people really look forward to the announcements more than the awards itself and so the developers have been banking on that a lot with big presentations. I do love that every year they have an orchestra play a small medley of the soundtrack of the Game of the Year nominees, it's always a great performance.

If it was Diablo 3 you guys played that was my quality time with my siblings was co-op playing diablo. the one with the burned legs is just random fanatic from the Cathedral of Light ( a church that Inarius created back in the day to fight the prime evils over Sanctuary and Humans back in the Sin Wars) So everyone beneath Inarius is just fanatics insects that are under his command.. (also technically his children if Lilith is the Mother he is the Father) and in the previous trailer you saw a glimpse of him being tortured by the prime evils and locked because lilith betrayed him (he wanted to kill his own children out of fear they will become to strong and overpower him hence he cursed the nephelims to become weak each generation and you get the regular humans...)

I know everyone is hyped by this, but I got to bring this up. Every company is 1 good trailer a way from sweeping all the problems they been having under the rug. Every legitimate concern people have with this game and, company really, is kind of gone because they made a really cool CGI trailer. Like the treatment of Diablo Immortal, the cash shop leaks ppl we're worried about for Diablo 4, The predatory practices Blizzard has been putting in their games lately, the treatment of their employees, all of it gone because of a trailer that doesn't tell you anything about the actual game. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying people shouldn't like things or get excited, but it concerns me when ppl can't be objective and w8 for purchases. This game could be amazing, but if it's crap but still makes it's money back, you'll see more of this next time. It'll probably be way worst in fact. Idk that just bugs me when you compare even Overwatch 1 to 2 or old CoD games to newer ones where progression wasn't tied to a wallet. Or a Battlefield game when you couldn't dive up a wall because someone never play tested the game enough.

There is a controversial and interesting movie called The Lady of Heaven, and it will be released on Movie platforms, including Apple TV, Google Play, Amazon Prime and Microsoft on December 23 this year. Blizzard is pretty awesome with it’s cinematics but if the last few years have taught us anything it’s that when a developer puts so much effort into advertising and epic presentation, they’re usually covering for what is in fact, some crappy gameplay. Blizzard especially has a long way to go to win back our trust.

KEN and BETHANY, about DIABLO 4 there is good and bad, as always. The good is this beta version and the fact that in the middle of next year the game will be on consoles, PC, etc. BUT the downside is that not even a week has passed since THE GAME AWARDS announcement and the company has announced that it will sell "cosmetic items" from the game, i.e. MICRO TRANSACTIONS as they always do or as I call STEALING FROM THE CONSUMER Not forgetting that they will sell the game at FULLPRICE, 70 OR 80 DOLLARS, which I don't doubt they will raise the price of the game.

Huh? The fact that they have a cosmetics in game shop has been known for months. And that it would come from the get go was pretty much expected. Also, nobody gives a rat's ass about cosmetics. The true worry is that the shop will include stuff that ISN'T cosmetic only, but actually gives you power in game. And THAT is the real deal breaker. Blizzard have stated that won't be the case, but after Diablo Immortal, trust in their word is pretty much non-existant. There's nothing wrong with cosmetic mtx (why do you call them "stealing"? You don't have to use them. Don't blame your own lack of willpower on a business!). If players want a game that is supported for years to come with continuing development and new content, then they need to be willing to pay continuously. Where does this weird sense of entitlement come from that you pay once and then get infinite support? You say you want a "pay once and done deal" like it was in the good old days? Then you get what you pay for and nothing in the future. Maybe a bugfix patch or two and then that's it. That's how it used to be in the good old days. With sandboxy games like these, people want to play for years to come, and if you want a decade worth of ongoing support, you better be willing to pay for it because nobody works for free. Monetization of games is not a bad thing. HOW it is done, that is the crucial part. And Blizzard have proven that they are willing to go about it in the absolutely worst way possible, deploying the full arsenal of predatory, manipulative mechanisms. I have zero problem with: "this set of cosmetics will cost you 7.99$. This is what it looks like. Do you want to buy it?" I have a massive problem with "this set of cosmetics costs 800 special coins. You can only buy them in packs of 700 or 1400!". I have a massive problem with "Do you want more loot? All you have to do is pay 500 special coins and you will unlock a special drop!" I have a massive problem with "Oh you missed logging in yesterday? No problem! For only 300 special coins you can extend your log-in streak for extra rewards!" etc. The list of dick moves they've pulled with Immortal is VERY long, indeed! If they stick to their word for once (i.e. cosmetics only), there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. And no, it doesn't matter that the game is also box-priced. YOu don't want to spend money on additional looks? Just don't do it. However, if it turns out that they resort to the same bottom-of-the-pit atrocities they did with DIablo Immortal, and they start selling power and progression in the game, then they absolutely deserve to crash and burn.

Micro transactions for aesthetics don’t bother us as much as micro transactions for advancing in the story. It’s difference in paying for something you want versus paying for something you need. But just our opinion on that and we get people not liking any micro transactions in games 🤗
