You know funny enough I think I really like the more streamlined less grindy approach they are taking. I played LE for a bit and while I think it is definitely the better game for enthusiasts, the itemization and loot was a bit overwhelming and I got bored pretty quickly. I think I have to admit that for these types of games I definitely am more in the casual camp where I want to be able to level fast, kill a ton of stuff, unlock all the cool things at a relatively quick/easy pace and not have to go through and endless tedious rng based grind to get anywhere. So yea I think I will come back and give this game a try again. Gameplay was always solid its just the grind was so tedious and unrewarding. Also there was very little build variety so its looking much better now a year later.

The grind is SO much better and easier now. Season 1 and before, it was a slog. They’ve buffed exp pretty much every season to make the climb much more palatable

But they broke me with that bs patch that made everything a lot slower, I was actually grinding to 100 at that exact point, was somewhere at 75ish, and not only did they make my life harder, but they reduced my sorcerer to crap. So after 100, and platinum, I never went back. Wanted to, but they just beat diablo oit of me. And I'm not the only one. All the friends I was playing with, none went back after the beginning of season 1

Awesome! I'm glad they're focussing on improving the base game, rather than seasonal content. I'm not the biggest fan of being forced to start a new char just to experience the latest ideas Creators are adding. So giving Eternal Realm players revamps is something I'm glad to see. As a newbie who's more casual than hard-core, I believe simplifying the itemization's great. Many times while playing, I'd find it difficult to decide what's actually better than what's already equipped. Keep it up, Blizzard! I'm looking forward to hopping back into D4. Cheers

So I played about 20 hours on the PTR and it was great! There were some problems that I won't get into because they were fixed post PTR. So, I will instead concentrate on the experience with a few points: 1. The leveling experience is so fast now that some may find it too fast as it will push you very rapidly towards the end game, but I loved it. 2. Itemization is simpler to use, but not dumbed down. Yes items now will only have a few core and effective attributes, but the tempering system will allow for some very specific and robust class specific itemization that is much more determinative. You still have randomization in tempering, but all of the tempering recopies have a limited pool of selected abilities. These temperings are also VERY impactful. 3. All aspects going into the codex is AMAZING! The interface is a bit bare bones, but they have at least locked down being able to tag favorites. So, once you have decided what you want to play with, you can just imprint every new piece of gear you get. Done. And no hoarding items for aspects or the aspects themselves. It is just... gone. This more than anything is super empowering. 4. Loot now goes something like this - whites and blues (sell or crunch after level 10) yellows (sell or crunch after level 35) after that, you will only pick up yellows for crafting mats. Once you hit level 70 or so, you will have most of the core legendary items you want, so you will crunch them too and all you will keep after that is any legendary with a sun symbol indicating it has greater affixes. All of this funnels you into much more limited downtime reviewing items for viability. It is terrific. 5. Uniques - these in general feel underwhelming now because forging allows you to make much stronger items due to the total of 5 affixes you will have and two are always going to be focused on exactly what you want. Some uniques did well.. unique things.. that are still useful to a build or defined a build, but all the uniques that don't do this are going to need reworking (which they already acknowledged). 6. The pit - this was definitely too easy on PTR but they are addressing this so it is hard to say how it will feel in the live game, but it is greater rifts from D3 so base line it is fast and fun for me. 7. Helltide - this was the best part of the redux. I LOVE the new helltides. They are packed with enemies and the new GTA style wanted system ramps it up even farther. 8. DO NOT SLEEP ON OBOLS - at level 100, they produce level 925 gear AND that gear can have greater affixes. This will be one of the best ways to deterministically go for a perfect roll item for a specific slot because you are literally choosing the slot every time. 9. ARMOR CHANGE - one of the biggest changes in the patch notes is armor. The amount you need is now CAPPED at a little less than 10,000. This is VERY easy to do for most classes, so this will free up some paragon points, aspect slots, and affix choices because you will not need them as much any more. So, just like resistances, you just have to keep an eye on that cap, but in the late game it will largely be a non-issue. There is so much more than this and I had a great time. However, if you hate D4 for any reason other than itemization or you find it too easy, I don't think this is going to change your mind about the overall style of the game. If you had some fun and are willing to give it a try again, you may have a great time. But if you go into this thinking it is a new game, it is not.

I don't understand... Everyone keeps talking about season 4 like it hasn't dropped yet... According to the Game Pass version I have on Xbox, season 4 is the season of the construct and is currently live and ends some time in May... At least every time I've looked at it it says 4, and I look at it quite often considering I get DC'd about every 20 minutes even though none of my other games have that issue.

As a dirty casual all i got to say is this is awesome, i quit and never got a toon up to 100 due to spending more time figuring out if gear was an upgrade or not or the farming of aspects really sucked. Now when you get an aspect you dont lose it when you attach it to gear as its saved in the codex is great. I totally get it from the hardcore players perspective it makes the game easier. With that said I think (been playing diablo since the first shareware disk) diablo was always meant to be played so you got to play this obscene geared out character just obliterating everything and ease of getting in and getting out when you wanted to play. I do agree that the endgame content is lacking for the power levelers and hardcore players but for me this is bring back the fun in my opinion anyways

they made several changes to stash management after season 1, a lot of materials/gems etc no longer take up stash space, and as mentioned in this video you dont have to hold items to use their aspects anymore

When they say those special 1.5x properties only appear on "Ancestral Legendary and unique items", I feel like that is poorly worded. Are they saying: 1) ANY unique can have them, and only ANCESTRAL legendaries can have them? Or are they trying to say 2) Only ancestral Legendaries and ancestral uniques can have them? If it's the former, they should have said "Uniques and Ancestral Legendaries". If it's the latter, they should have said "ancestral uniques and ancestral Legendaries" just to make it clear.

The reset is why so many people keep playing the game lmao. What is the point of coming back to the next season already at level 100 with a fully decked out build just to instantly finish whatever new content there is and quit playing after 1-2 days.

Apparently Diablo 4 made the same mistake as 3. Too many different legendary items, trivializing the feeling of reward when finding one. Diablo 2 was the game I had the most fun with in my life and despite having many hours of play in Diablo 3, it was a game that wore me out. I had some hope that Diablo 4 would bring back that feeling but looking at the gameplay it seems like more of the same, everything comes without much effort. Blizzard should take a closer look at Path of Exile to understand how to encourage the player to continue playing without the feeling of repetition making it boring. PoE is a complex game (even a little more than it should be) but it is a game that encourages you to study how to improve to achieve goals you have not yet achieved.

Am I the only one growing distrusful over time with this channel? Problem is it feels like they try to please game companies by putting out those very positive sounding buzzwords and introductions, only to keep their real opinions hidden in tiny audio commentary bits inside the content, somtimes contradicting the whole package. Like you first see "Epic best update big overhaul blablabla!", so I'm like ok maybe it's time to finally play that game, but by the end of the video you're left with "Diablo 4 had the worst itemization, quickly getting stale and this should make it a bit better". Oh so it's nothing major after all? And I've noticed many reviews over here are using the same "Look devs we love your games keep loving us back" flashy thumbnails that force you to dig deep into the audio commentary to find actual hints of a more grounded, honest opinion about whatever they review. still boring. Why not greatly reduce these legendary/rare/unique/whatever anything not normal items and encourage the the use of these other item enhancing features on normal white items. If I knew I wouldn’t be getting a single legendary rare whatever for a long time, I’ll just be upgrading my normal items until it feels strong. And when a colored item drop, it would feel extremely satisfying because it has higher affixes than normal items (means I’ll upgrade my normal item less) but also not too strong where I stop using the enhancement features. The goal should be to gear the average norm items up to the level of a colored item. Then finding a colored item would help replace that one normal gear you been working on. I definitely got bored after having full legendary in one run. Wasn’t any reason to continue.

The itemization in this game is, and always has been, horrendously boring and uninspired. Please stop parroting the propaganda that it's fixed. Getting the exact same affixes over and over with incrementally higher numbers on nameless lifeless copies is not interesting.
