Got my practice run to lvl55 today and all I can say is bring on season 1. Tanky as hell and just with the ire glyph slotted enemies are melting. Can see the power of this even though I haven’t got the bear clan aspect to drop yet.

Loving the way this is put together. The way you go about making some things that others think is something "everyone should know by now" is refreshing, especially since it triggers a 'finally now i get it'. Thank you for that and here's a sub without question. Gonna be honest I tried to mimic your NM100 build with some -entry level- 700 gear to try get myself out of the NM20 rut in WW and felt godlike tanky, so that was quite fun.. Unless you get into a single target and you feel like hitting with a wet noodle, yet I'm fully aware I'm probly not doing anything right the way I should haha. Pity I met my match at the very first vampiric mob that was an objective and had the 'oh damn' moment of realising that no amount of tankiness is gonna get past whatever skill gap i have to do this. Legends say they are still hitting each other to this day

I started a few hours ago im level 20 in hardcore, one tip I have is go do LEGIONS get there early for the campfire stacking and a good group to be carried by. I went there at level 13, which is a little spooky with them being 25, but I was tanky enough to survive and I got super incredible gear for my level and all the way up to the mid 20s ahead of time.

Thank you for this guide, I have been playing my version from the start and I really enjoyed it, definitely want to try this out. The only thing missing from your explanation is the rotation of skills-I am not sure how you do DMZ with 2 basic skills and no thorns at the beginning and without emeralds. And I do like to grab the aspects from the codex dungeons-grinding same 2 for hours would have bored me to hell. And I like going to dungeons in the areas above yours-not only gives you more exp but also drops higher lvl loot-my preference to enjoy and having fun. What I do like the most about this build-it is actually not about you killing but mobs killing themselves and that opens new thinking-there are monsters and bosses that do not attack you frequently and others 5+ times a second

roughly every 1000 str = 100% increase to your base thorns damage. 10k thorns 2k strength 30k thorns.

Love the DC Death at the end. I have lost 3 HC Barbs to this exact thing. Ill def be rolling a HC Barb and really like your build, i ran a more Bleed Thorns Build with Flay and Rend in the launch. I was able to complete the capstone dungeon to get to Tier 3 using this build (exept no ghost walker on the boots) when I was only level 40. Now at level 43 and able to do Helltide. This build is great... Thank you for these guides

I always keep my frenzy as priority as its the most DR early on and late on. Flay is alternated in between frenzy hits after 3 stack, once @ 3/4 stack frenzy/flay I use taunts etc. Flay 2h/Frenzy 1h

One thing I don’t recall being mentioned - are there any codex powers that would really help the leveling process we can get early? I know of one off the top of my head; the DR on basic skills

There are absolutely codex's you can use, especially if those transfer over to Season 1 character. I didn't really check into that part specifically, but that being said, the legendary drop rate will be so high that we shouldn't have an issue getting pieces that we need. Man, thanks for these guides. I was playing barb and never thought of running thorns. I ended up building a whole new set of gear for it. It's not perfect at all, lol. I'm really enjoying this build, though, and it's impressive how well you understand all the stats and what works best. You are for sure better than I am, lol. I do have a question, though. In higher nm dungeons, when you are supposed to destroy something to progress, what if there's no mobs? I had this issue last night, and I almost got stuck. Do you just not run those types of dungeons?

Few things you can do, of-course you can pull mobs from nearby rooms to AoE thorns the "structure" down. If it's just a structure that doesn't spawn adds every 1/3 hp, then especially NM85+ where it would take like... 10 minutes to kill the thing, just open your skill tree up, remove iron skin and get kick. Kick on vuln with max fury will hit for 3mil+ with the amount of strength and vuln damage we have. Hope this helps, and don't forget to switch kick back to IS before you die

When should we switch to your NM 100 build? like if i'm lvl 89, do I use this build? Because there are some key differences in your NM 100 vs your leveling 1-100 build e.g. the chest is Iron Warrior vs Iron Blood , and Boots are Exploiter vs Ghostwalker and in glyphs, Revenge vs Undaunted. Would really appreciate your opinion on this

This is what I will be using in 7 days for the new season. If you are already invested @ 89 I would stick with the NM100 build as it is proven to clear it. This build listed for the fastest and most effective way to hit 100. I will release a new NM100 guide for Season 1 with the new aspects/hearts etc, so stay tuned

Hamstring nerf was pretty devastating to barbs. I didn't really feel it with thorns while I was speed farming 30's-40's but anything higher than 65 and it is really noticeable. I am still going to go thorns for season 1. Hope you have a great season kGault!

Awesome content. Is the unique Battle Trance necklace an viable option for this build? I know that i would lose the disobedience 50% value on that slot but i got a drop of that unique very early on with a high item power of 810 and its almost max rolled on all stats. So, after this last patch and the huge nerfs to DR, total armor stat, the disobedience aspect, vulnerable damage and the hamstring passive , how viable do you think this build will be now? Seems to me like pushing past a 90 nm dungeon may be near impossible. I still plan on running the season with it, but no longer have high hopes of clearing a 100.

Awesome guide thanks so much for putting it together. I have a question with Challenging Shout, sometimes when I use it the mobs just stand/walk around like im not there, unfortunate considering the massive thorns buff, is there a reason for it? is this just part of the taunt mechanic?

Ya it seems to stun them, wildly annoying. I like to use my taunt mid pull from using chains --- doesn't seem to stop them from attacking when I do it that way. Good luck and thanks for your support friend!
