Boys.. what an experience we had. The world was different, both in-game and out. Diablo 2: LOD was peak gaming, no doubt. No social media back then. Barely cellphones. MMO's weren't really a thing quite yet. This was our game. We lived this shit. We experienced it and no one will ever understand our nostalgia for this absolute masterpiece.. but we can come back to videos like this and rejoice with the select few that were there.. as for me..? I'll be in Lut Gholien, eager to unravel the deserts mysteries.. and what lies ahead of me deep within Tal'Rasha's tomb..

Indeed. Everyone has the nostalgia of their youth though. For some it'll be reading books, for today's youth possibly playing Elden Ring or Diablo 4. No one's nostalgia is superior to anyone else's.
@YungYdoc4 ай бұрын
@@Cheximus Yeah, I agree! However, I feel like the authenticity of gaming was at it's peak around this era, 90's to early 2000's. The fact that certain things like social media and cellphones not existing yet was huge. Meta existed but not like it does today. Gaming was a lot more self-exploratory and hear-say amongst friends or people you would engage with in-game. The fact that a lot of us had to LAN and now younger peeps today don't even know what that is. lol. Or internet cafes. The 90's - It was just different man. It is literally impossible for someone to ever replicate the vibe we had then, but you can certainly replicate the vibe of games that come out today for the foreseeable future.

@@Ixtzalit Insane fact about this that I found out not too long ago. So at some point as an adult I was recalling the exact thing this comment thread is talking about, the sounds that fallen make when they walk around or when you kill them. Backstory to this, my father worked in conjunction with Blizzard to make some shirts for them for D2 Lord of Destruction, and his contact at blizzard's name was Karen Colenzo. There is a boss variant of fallen (warped) shaman who's name is Colenzo the Annihilator, and it is the first "boss" in the first wave of minions sent out by baal in his throne room in act 5. In the same way the fallen say Rakanishu's name, I believe what the fallen shamans are saying is actually co-len-zo, the name of their leader, Colenzo the Annihilator. Because Blizzard has a tendency to name mobs in game after employees, that is what led me to this conclusion. I could be totally wrong but it makes sense to me. 😅 Side note, I actually have some misprinted d2lod tshirts in my attic because of the work that was done with blizzard by my father in the late 90s and early 00's. Thanks for coming to my ted talk. Perfection. The artwork, the atmosphere and, of course, one of the best game soundtracks ever. Great job mate

This is gorgeous. I wish I could use this as a live wallpaper but I'm not sure how.

crazy that Matt Uelmen only worked a few hours a day then goof around (acourding to David Brevik) to do this

he knew what he was doing, all geniuses have their time well spent, take mozart for example, he would write countless pieces in a short time.

nothing new in world genius. From my POV 50% of D2 game is music, if wasnt Uelmen, doubt it will be were is now. Funny thing, Uelmen worked for music D3 aswell, but after the North Blizzard was dismantled, all soundtracks get on WOW Burning Crusade(not all soundtracks are from Matt Uelmenn, maybe half), sometime i wonder in WOW BC, were is coming that music when i farmed mobs.
