Aside from any power increase I got from the programmer, it is worth it just for increase in transmission performance. Certain years can adjust all the RPM shift points as well.

I just purchased a Diablo Super tuner i3 for my 2001 GMC C3 Sierra 6.0 Vortec and installed the Diablo tune and firmed up the shift a little and it’s a freakin beast now! Unreal the difference something as simple as this makes.

No. It's the best bang for the buck right out of the box. In a gas engine, you get a bit more power, but mainly what it does is enable your transmission to work like it should to maximize the power you already have. I just bought one and the difference is huge. I'd recommend this before doing anything else. If you have a diesel, it's RIDICULOUS what you can do. For a few hundred bucks, it's unbelievable.

I have a DSP for my '03 Silverado 2500HD and the canned 93 Octane Tune does wonders for the truck. Mods are CAI, BBK Headers, and Cat-Back Exhaust though. Will have to post a video like this one showing stock, 87 Octane and 93 Octane.

Question, did you pretty much "plug and play" with this tuner for this video or did you have to tweek it alot before making the "after tune" video? I've read the tunes take 100-150 miles before the ECM remembers the fuel TRIMS, but just curious if you had to data log and tweek any parameters much between the before and after vids? I'm looking at one for my GMC 2500HD 6.0L gasser and wondering how spot on the plug and play tunes are in these programmers. Thanks!

These arnt like real custom tunes. You pick a tune thats already in it ex- towing, economy, 87, 91, stock. And that's it. Yes the fuel trims will take time to re adapt, but for example the 91 tune once loaded your motor instantly has a different timing, fuel map, AFR, and what ever else they change. You can go in and adjust your shift points, throttle sensitivity, rpm limiter, speed limiter, set what tire size,you have to fix speedometer, and set what gear ratio you have.

Hey does the diablo tuner remove the governor for a 2009 impala LT? mine tops out at 112 and it says on the dash speed reduced to 112. i know it can go faster and is this what i need to remove the governor? thanks

The Hypertech Max Energy Programmer you cant do multiple vehicles so Im assuming this one aint no different. They base it off the VIN of vehicle and that's it. Unless you sell it, so there must be a way to do a family members or buddys vehicle if you "sell It" and then have him sell it back to ya.

i am curious cause i haven't played with tuners before, i noticed after the tune that when you revd high your speedo jumped as well, but then immediately went back to the proper mph. is this a flaw or is it just the computers trying to temporarily compensate.

@kutz0420 well thanks for the info. i was thinking if i got one i would prob send the programing out (sooner or later) to get it tuned to my mods and truck. i just wanted to know how it did for someone on the stock tunes that came on it. from what i have read they had a Mustang GT (running the 93 tune) gain 30 more HP after getting it tuned to that car, with no mods. so it might be worth looking into if you can get on a computer...

@dracowing14 wheelspin. mph measured with wheel diameter vs rpm. spin those wheels till smoke pours off and it will read 100 at 5mph. i have a diablo for my charger. for 300 bucks, best bang for the buck. be aware that shift perameters will change. but you can always change it back

I never had to take the tune off. Only thing I've done is tuned it down to 89 octane. I'd suggest checking out their website. I know there is a way to do it but I've had this same truck for over a decade now. I think it's pretty easy though.

It's just from not staging the RPMs. The truck was at idle with foot on brake to gas pedal. Everything is a dog if you start them at 450 RPM... That tune has been used reliably for a decade and I still remember how much it woke my truck up now... Or, 10 years ago I faked this video so I'd look cool to strangers on then internet... You decide.

@@amulekmusser7346 Yeah it just one of the "canned" tunes that come pre loaded. And yes, you can def change the tire size to correct your speedo... This is the original Diablosport tuner. I don't know if they even sell it anymore. I'd guess that the newer versions might have more features. You won't be disappointed if you get one. Reliability has been great for me too, I have put 100,000+ miles with this same 93 octane tune with no ill effects.

Coils won't add horsepower just get better spark plugs, the most cost effective way of adding power is headers, Cai, and tune

I have a question for anyone inclined to answer......I have seen cars of the exact same make and model as some of mine, no mods, similar mileage that were way faster than mine. I now have a 5.7 hemi that will blow identical trucks off the road (and most everything else). Is there a decent reason for this phenomenon? I am really curious. I keep guessing it's because mine may have been built on a Tuesday. I have no idea. Can 2 trucks built on the same assembly line have different performance? If so, why? Any insight is welcome, I am quite curious about this. Thanks.

I'm a little late to reply here but I think most of it is driver. If you just floor most vehicles you wont actually accelerate the fastest. I've found you have to feather the throttle to get the best performance out of them. I've recently purchased a Grand Cherokee with the same engine and its very prevalent in it. Floor it and it really doesn't move like I'd think it should. Give it heavy throttle though and push it to the mat at the right RPMs and it rips. I think most new cars "learn" the owners driving style too which might account for some of that...
