I played it for a bit at a friend's place one night and Diablo 3 has all the microtransaction mechanics and not enough people reacted to it then, including my friends, so with Diablo 4 Activision is just pushing it harder, as they always do. And the thing is that if you bought D4 and kept it despite complaints, it's just going to get worse against the next time because they already have your money. Complaints and poor reception mean nothing if you've given them money.

I think both are going off the design of what big demons/devils were depicted at the time. Given their close release proximity, D2 in 2000 and Lotr in 2001, it would have been hard for one to be inspiration of each other when they were in final production. Though Diablo's design in D1 could be one to inspire Balrog's design, but his design was different back then in 1997

Its a shame they made diablo a female version in D3. The complete change in design takes away alot of the nostalgia and terror that original character had. Also, the female diablo feels.......a bit to overcomplicated. 4 arms, shoulderpads, chest cavitees, boobs plates, shoulder spikes and two jaws. IIRC, it wasn't a female version, so much as a fusion between all the Prime Devils of the Hells. That was why the Black Soulstone was so important, and so easy to corrupt people with. It united all of them into a single entity, mostly under the control of Diablo. Hence why he no longer looked like a thicc Kaiju, he had the powers and physical attributes of his elder and younger siblings meshed with his own.

Basically, the girl Diablo possessed was the daughter of a witch, and her father was the warrior to defeated Diablo in the first game. He took the red soul stone to imprison Diablo in himself. The witch then lured him, and made him weaker to Diablo's corruption (likely during sex). The daughter was only meant to be a vessel for the prime evil, and to get to heaven the witch opened a doorway so that Diablo, as a Prime Evil, could destroy the heavens.

its a shame once agen actiblizz lost the plot in its customer hostility.. because hey , whats the difference between these prime evils and the ones in the later games ? ...these... are as much 'manifestations' of the expressions of various primal emotions and experiences as they are entities ..you cannot kill them as a being.. anymore then you can kill 'the wind' ...in that regard most of the angles are far more mortal as while they declare to embody various concepts to in their case its concepts that far to often depends on ''up on high' authority ideas... aka , kill diablo and he just reform in the churning maelstorms of hel's energies because he 'channelled' one reflection of what feeds it so much by the time anyone try to usurp that spot ...he already manifested agen and can rend them in terror like for example 'imperious' ...far lees of a 'primal' thing regardless how mighty it is... while on the other hand ,what was the one the players meet the reflection of agen..justice ? either way such concepts is far more 'primal' ...as even a killer whale demonstrated a sense of ''if i not have a reason its pointless to keep the seal , toss it back to the shore instead''
