I like it when u said you wouldnt change having toureetes. I wouldn't change having cerebral palsy. There are some days I got down about it but wouldnt change having it cause its what has made me strong and the girl I am today

Although I’m very proud of and happy for you for living your best life, I’d have to disagree with both you and Samuel on this one. I have pretty severe Tourette’s that impacts my life very severely and I would do anything to have it up and disappear. I know that my life would be 10 times easier if I didn’t have it, and that’s just the truth. Saying funny things doesn’t make up for the stress of tic attacks or the pain I have caused myself, my friends, and family, both physically and emotionally due to violent or graphic tics. Non-stop bullying and exclusion from disability communities seriously impact my mental health. I don’t like the argument that a person’s disability is a “part of them” like an interest or a personality trait. It’s something that needs to be treated and accommodated for. I don’t want someone to ask me who I am and have to say my favorite color is black, I love to draw, and I have Tourette’s. I don’t like those things grouped together because those things are not alike in any way. I’d much rather say I happen to have a tic disorder that is a big influence in the things I’m able and not able to do. THEN I can talk about what I’m into and so on. I’m glad that you’ve made peace with your cerebral palsy, I truly am. Hopefully you can understand where I’m coming from on this.

I know a police officer that has Tourettes (verbal and twitch).. Amazing personality.. Hilarious sometimes when he gets sent on a call and his adrenaline is high then his Tourettes kicks into overdrive 👮

Polli, as big of jerks as some people can be, there are those with immense kindness. The ones who bully, usually do so because their self-esteem is so low, they need to belittle another person to feel superior. It's messed up, and you don't have to put up with it, but just keep the thought in the back of your mind that it's not YOU they hate - it's themselves. Find those people who love you, and shut out the rest. (If you're still in school, it's very hard to do, but it WILL NOT be like that the rest of your life!)
