Maybe 1 day, you do a walk through talk through vide on how to re-cap it??? I would love to learn, and then hand it off to my trusted radio guy and have him alighn it and check my work.. awesome video, this is awesome!! cheers from The Maine woods!!!

I think I have a video on recapping tips if you want to go look that up. If you need more let me know and I'll be happy to help. You could also do the recap and mail it to me for inspection and alignment. I have several customers from Maine.

Recapping a radio is simply replacing all of the electrolytic capacitors with new ones of the same value, you CAN go with a capacitor that is rated at a higher voltage and be perfectly fine, however the capacitance is what you really need to pay attention to. Also pay close attention to which side the stripe is on when replacing them. Super easy procedure, just time consuming.

I have 2 cobra 29s I'd like to have you look at. One has no transmit and the other is overdriving. You do great work!

For those who comment that the swr meter was on cal and it was on PA and called me an idiot, you should have read the description of the video where I state the switches were bypassed and repurposed at some point.

Another great video. Do you have any any advice on doing some tuning without the fancy machines. I heard VR 4 can be turned all the way counterclockwise and that helps. Is there and other ones I can do with a SWR/WATT meter? Any help is appreciated. I did pull my amplifier (BJ 300) after listening to you. ❤love the videos. Be watching more of you videos.

You can do that. Just don't go all the way. Back off just a tiny bit after. I'm sure you probably came across cutting out diode D11 on the forums and internet. It will make the radio loud but very distorted. Just turn vr4 up and back off a bit. 73s

@pulsarcb I did see cutting D11. I would not do that. I just want to tune it as best as I can. I have taken the amplifier off because it really does not do much.

Might help from the start making sure your switch is on cb NOT PA ! !

You must be a detective ! Great notice. It would also help if you read the description and tagged comment. You'd read that some of the switches were bypassed. How about you read everything before you look dumb calling someone out. I love the keyboard engineers jumping to conclusions. Please go watch another channel if what you're going to do is call people out for no reason. Please don't come back to my channel. Nextime just give it a thumbs down and move on like everyone else.
