Diagnosing and fixing the GET GTI 6speed transmission and short shift lever install

Do you have any tips on re-installing the gear selector shaft? Broke off my locking pin and want to make sure the broken end is not in there, then replace the locking pin. Thanks in advance!

It’s a little bit of a pain to get it back in. Make sure to add sealant to the base of the shift tower to seal it up then wiggle it to align the shift forks and press down on the tower to lock it in. You can remove from reverse switch to take some stress off of the shaft

How did you get the bolt to stay put ? What type of bolt did you use? I have the same exact issue. Did you use a tap and die ??? Your info wil be greatly appreciated.
