I had the exact same problem and replaced the inner coil sleeve and unlike yours it was still dragging just the same. When you got to the end of part three I was praying that your machine would still be dragging like mine because it don’t know how to go any further cleaning and reassembling a Gottlieb flipper assembly. Thanks for any help because I’m still rocking the shortened spring hack

You could try powdered graphite may be mixed in with silicone spray. You could always put a nylon washer at the bottom so it protects the Metal on Metal
