I can great sounds out of this unit after looking at tips from Tom Quayle, Studio Rats, and John Cordy. One key is to use output EQ settings to kill any frequencies below 100 Hz or above 6.3Khz. Use pedals and amps to build cascading gain stages, each stage having limited gain so it adds together to creamy goodness. I find it also helps to go into a tube amp to get that tube warmth from the power amp. Adjust tone at live volume levels so you know what you're going to sound like for sure in an actual gig.

To my ears the boost 'pedal' in the GX stands up against and is even better than many of its analogue counterparts!

LOVE that lead tone!

Man, I can't thank you enough! I'm new to modeling units and had a hard time trying to create a good lead tone on the GX. For hot pickups it sounds amazing ✨✨✨

I really like the Deluxe Reverb amp on the gx100 - usually pair it with the 2x12 cab

Try stacking a boost on a boost .... Works really nice for a natural / pick & volume responsive drive!

This is such a helpful video... you're giving a great example of how you can build great tones by incrementally adding components. Sometimes I get really stuck just at the amp stage. Like in the case of this video, I thought the tone sounded like a can of farts until you started adding delays and more component layering. Makes me realize that I still have so much to learn about how to use the GX-100 (and probably tone shaping) in general. Thank you for making this!

Hello Nathan! Thanks for reaching out to GX once again. Was looking forward to it. Would you be able to address something similar to the hold/freeze function in a future video? Your timbres are killer... I got some by buying you a coffee :-) Hugs from Brazil, RJ \o

Great lesson. Would love to know your take on the Valeton GP200 for a newbie. Also I'd be nterested in your green vintage Sire S7 if you are looking to thin the herd!

I moved from gt1000 to QC and never looked back. Boss have great effects, but I could not find my amp tone. One thing that is better is patch change without any lag.

These boss units have the lowest latency or are supposed too.

This is great. Thanks for sharing. Silly question but what are you using for the prebuilt beats/drums and how does that integrate to GX100?

Are you going straight into a cab as such or is the gx100 in your chain and into the front of an amp

Will these GX100 presets being going up on Gumroad sometime?

Sound good. It looks it might be possible to hard pan the signal from both chains and maybe have cab sim on the left input and no cab sim for the right output. Is this a correct assumption?

I love the tones that you have created for the gx-100, any idea when you will publish them, I'd buy them in a heartbeat.

Great playing and finished tone...on a minor note you done some actions too quick for an oldish fart like me...can i ask why you initialised the sequence twice and then went back in with new dialing? Thanks

Hi John, can you make a new video about this GX 100 with the latest firmware? To see the impovments. I just tested it, and I found the UI a bit slow Thanks

If there a reason you prefer modelers over plugins? (based on that most of the content is modeler content :) )

Sorry but the basic amp tone from this unit with no effects sounds terrible, and even with effects I’m struggling hearing it as a useable tone. The Playing though is top notch as usual.
