Please note that the Duolingo Irish is in the Connaught dialect and also TG4 is in Connaught... As a learner in the UK, I wish more videos bore the huge importance of Duolingo in mind

This is great for a learner like me. Go raibh maith agat! Cornish uses the synthetic form too; obviously very different language, but there are some interesting similarities. Came here because of Molly Gaeilge mo chroi.

The part of the video about the difference between táim and tá mé is very interesting. I've seen both "táim i mo chónaí" and "Tá mé i mo chónaí" my Irish teacher was quick to tell me to only use táim but that makes sense considering he's from Cork.

As someone with an auditory processing disorder I feel like I need to memorize all the differences in the dialects to know what people are saying

Just returned from Ireland. I was not able to get to the Gaeltacht in Munster, being my preference. I did get to Lurgen and meet a few of the people there. It was a wonderful trip. The weather was fantastic. I did have difficulty getting rental cars, which effected some travel. I also would have like to meet you, but I know you had spoken against that once before. You are my best link into Munster Irish. I am a Donovan and HEAVILY liked into Munster. I really appreciate your vlogs.

If I learn a dialect I would go Connacht because of where my family came from. (Roscommon) I'm trying to learn from several sources, Gaelge I Mo Croí is mostly ulster, Dane on Learn Irish is mostly Muenster and on Bitesize Irish at least with Siobhan it's more Connact.

Haló! I was brought up to speak using the Canúint Uladh! All you said is so true! I live in the US now, and I keep trying to teach Irish to my friends. Lol! I noticed that Connacht and, even more so, Munster tend to dominate the language education material markets in the US!

D’fhoglaim mé Gaeilge sa scoil don chéad uair I gContae Thír Eoghain, so ceapaim go bhfuil mo chuid Gaeilge an CO le blásín an chanúint Uladh. Mar sin de úsáidim “druid” agus “chífidh” 😂

Cónaím i Laighin agus mar sin, úsáidim codanna de gach canúint nuair atá mé ag labhairt ach is fearr liom an canúint Mumhan!

Why is there no Leinster dialect? 4th Province....
@MrRomero00
@MrRomero00 Жыл бұрын
There used to be a Leinster dialect but it died out a long time ago unfortunately. It was kind of a mix of all three of the other ones but had its own unique features as well. The farther north you went the more it sounded like ulster Irish and the farther south a bit more Munster etc. There's a website out there that breaks down how the dialect would have sounded, it would be nice to see it revived possibly.
