They should have an audible countdown if this was the largest crosswalk timer because it would only display two dashes if it’s over 100. This countdown is used if the crosswalk is extremely large such as a size of a building.

Too bad most modern countdown pedestrian signals won't let you set it to start counting down when the "walk" phase begins, like earlier models from the late 90s and early 2000s did (the MUTCD states they must only count down during the clearance/"flashing" phase.)

It is unfortunate. I have a few Dialight inserts that will start the countdown during the Walk interval with a change of some dip switches in the countdown module.

Though the first countdown signals I saw in action in early 2001 had them start the count at the start of the "walk" phase (old Tassimco units from the late 90s), most others I've seen only count down during the flashing phase, including the second ones I've seen in real life (late 2001.) And of course all the countdown signals they've installed in my hometown of Brockton MA this decade only count down during the flashing phase, so I'm mostly used to that.

When this was at 99 seconds, it still meant finish crossing if started, but don’t cross if you haven’t started yet.

Gametrain The Signal Fan I know. if you go over one hundred seconds with dialight modules the Dialight modules will display - - until you get to 99 seconds with GE countdown modules it won't count down at all it will just go through another learning cycle.
