Io c'ero a questo concerto!!! Mio padre mi regalò i biglietti e fu l' esperienza musicale più bella della mia vita! Lei è stata la mia musa ispiratrice perché divenni poi una cantante swing/jazz! La seguivo da quando avevo dodici anni!! La voce jazz più melodiosa vellutata e limpida mai esistita! Ms. Fitzgerald has a warm, comforting voice that reminds me of simpler days, the love of my mother, just a feeling of joy. I wish I could have seen her perform. I often sing along with her because one can. Her songs are clear, clean, and tell a story. She was magnificent!!

What a flawless singer. The wobblier her vibrato got, the more she made it sound like it had been that way the whole time. Love her instincts always from the 30s all the way through!

She went on too long. She should have been retired by this point. Her singing just wasn’t great anymore, and she had been one of the greatest. It wasn’t so much the voice itself, but her phrasing which declined the most.

Oltre l’ovvia genialità musicale, di Ella Fitzgerald mi ha sempre sospreso l’assoluta normalità. Nessun eccesso. Nessuna droga, sbronza o follie simili. Non era come Billie Holiday, che visse sempre al limite, bruciandosi presto. In questo concerto era già un mito assoluto, eppure si poneva in modo assolutamente semplice e tranquillo. Meravigliosa! Beyond the obvious musical genius, Ella Fitzgerald's absolute normality has always surprised me. No excess. No drugs, booze or similar craziness. She wasn't like Billie Holiday, who always lived on the edge, burning out early. In this concert she was already an absolute legend, yet he presented himself in an absolutely simple and calm way. Wonderful!
