I have it in my TWSBI 580 AL EF nib...handles tight lines like a champ. Just did a book signing with it and ... honestly I love it.

Writer's Blood is a very nice ink. It has a lot of character.

I'm thinking on getting my first ink bottle and Writer's blood is really calling to me for my first buy

Reflecting on what Mark Biddle said earlier, I’ve not seen any feathering, however I only use TR or 115gsm papers. I do agree with it being wet and I like it for this as my Nakaya can be a bit dry at times and this ink has been great for it. There is no shading though which I know annoys a lot of people. It’s also my first Red of any kind so I like it.

There are at least a dozen dark red inks that are far superior in every way to this one. You have to try them to see the massive difference in quality. I suggest starting with Diamine Red Dragon, which is a wonderful deep red ink. I use Tomoe River 68gsm, Clairefontaine, Rhodia, and a couple of very expensive Japanese papers. This ink doesn't work well for me on any of them, at least with the nibs I have. I try to avoid any paper over 90gsm because it usually means the company is trying to use thickness to conceal lack of quality. Good paper doesn't have to be thick, as Tomoe River 52 GSM proves. Making paper thicker may stop it from ghosting or bleeding, but doesn't improve its quality. Poor paper is still poor paper, regardless of how thick it gets. This is why high quality papers such as Tomoe River, Clairefontaine, and Rhodia 90gsm, plus several great but difficult to get European and Japanese paper never go over 90gsm.

@@jamesaritchie1 - Yeah I’m not doubting there will be better inks out there but as usual, it’s all about personal preference at the end of the day. Out of my Nakaya it’s great as I see some colour changes, however out of my wet Visconti it’s not so good as it’s always too dark. I’m using 68gsm TR in different books from different makers and the ink is fine on it out of my nakaya, as it is on the 115gsm William Hannah paper I have too. No issues with the ink on any. Your 90gsm thoughts - I totally disagree here. Any paper can be poor regardless of weight. The William Hannah 115gsm paper is very good quality and is Atoma style punched so the weight of the paper is superb for this, as well as being great for inks. 🙂👍🏻

I adore this ink! One of my favourites - I have Oxblood too, which seems to lean a lot more brownish, and this Writer's Blood leans a lot more purple-ish on the colour wheel - though both are beautiful!

I just got Oxblood and I really dislike how brown it is. Especially with my Ahab flex nib it puts down so much ink that the brown undertones are super prominent. Thing is, it came in a 6 pack of various 30mL Diamine inks for only $26 (!!) (absurdly cheap) So it feels just wrong to buy a single bottle of writers blood for half the price of the 6 pack... Especially when they are so similar But man, the brown just ruins the color for me. I was hoping it to be a deep maroon bordering on plum. Looks like that's what writer's blood is... So idk what to do 😢

This is my favorite "red-black" ink so far. With a wet #5 or #6 nib it looks black at first/second glance. What do you recommend for a blue-black that looks black at first/second glance? So far the best I've tried is Diamine Twilight. Is there a better blue-black "out there"? I've settled on Monteverde Jade Noir for my green-black. From a wet nib it is darker than the Jinhao bottled black, which isn't just a dark gray like some "black" inks I've tried. oh, in my Ebony wood Jinhao 51-A with a fairly wet extra fine #5 nib it lays down a fine/thin very dark line.

What is the name of the pen?
@jamesaritchie13 жыл бұрын
Writer's Blood is just not a good ink. It isn't the lack of shading. I like that. But the ink is very runny, but still feels dry. It has no well defined edges, and with some pens, even feathers on Tomoe River.
@SparkeyMark433 жыл бұрын
I was really looking forward to trying this ink but after I did instantly regretted buying it. It’s so wet and runny it doesn’t matter which pen I use it in it leaves a wide feathering trail, definitely won’t be using it again and wouldn’t recommend it.
