For what it is, you've constructed the perfect home handyman's (back saving) tool. For me: I can actually envisage a slightly more complicated set-up using your apparatus on a sliding gantry. Its the intrinsic safety mechanism of a worm gear :) however i was a little bit worried about the axial load on the worm drive. Are the bearings used for axial load?
