Good question! I’ve only ever seen the round diamonds! And it looks great! Can’t go wrong either way!!

Ooooh! In second thought! I feel like square would make you have to perfect placement. Round is a little more forgiving! If a beginner I’m definitely thinking round better way to go!

I’ve done about three diamond painting kits. I’ve completed a colorful cat and I’m almost finished with my Van Gogh Starry Night Sky and a Sorcerer Mickey. One tip that I would have for you is to only lift a small portion of the top layer away at a time. I typically use scissors to cut the top backing piece for maybe a 2x2 size? I also find having a light box underneath the sticky mat helps. Have fun!

You’re going to love Diamond art it’s a great way to unwind. The donut thing is a cover minder and as LSN2 said you Just peel back a little of The plastic at a time the magnet, not attached ,goes in the back of the canvas and the donut on the front to hold the plastic down. (Hope that makes sense) Be careful the canvas is sticky anything you put on the bare canvas will stick. I also recommend watching Rachel Rae on KZbin for the best tips she is the best .
