Had a diamond for 22 yrs, he went blind a year ago. I hand feed him with a bulb syringe of frozen food. He would attack the food at first, then he got used to me feeding him like that. Sadly he finally passed away 2 weeks ago.

I’ve had mine for 3 days and he’s already cleaned up half the sand bed and made a dwelling under a rock with a nice berm around the perimeter. Fun fish to watch. Only complaint is the cloudy water he’s created hoping that clears up after a bit. If you are thinking of getting one of these guys you won’t be sorry.

I just got a DW Goby 2 days ago, I'm liking him so far. I have a 75 gallon tank. I was thinking of grabbing the other one we have at PetCo, but now I'm hesitant. I like bottom feeders to help clean up uneaten food. My tank is almost 2 months old.

I love my diamond goby. My next tank I definately need to go a more coarse sand than the Fiji Pink though. Special grade is an option but maybe even slighty chunkier than that.
@RogueAquariums2 жыл бұрын
I like the watchman goby except that fact that the last one I had used to pick up loads of sand then immediately swim up and then spit out the sand everywhere on the coral and rock work. Lol.. I was thinking of trying another one out because like you said they do a great job of sifting the sand bed and cleaning it up.

We sell them in pairs, and keep an upturned clam shell in their tanks. Extremely popular for their fascinating behaviour whereby one of them creates and tends to the outside of clam “house”, the other stays inside and keeps watch, even creating a cute little window, and back door. I particularly enjoy how they don’t dump sand from as high up as some of the other species of Valencienna gobies. 👏
@ReefDudes2 жыл бұрын
ThYs pretty cool. I haven’t had a pair of them before. Sifting on the ground and not on the water column was huge selling feature for me

Love these guys! Sadly, just lost mine after having him for about 2 years. He was unfortunately always rather nervous when eating because my yellow coris wrasse would always hover over his shoulder and pick at the sand after. Nothing ever aggressive, no attacks, nothing like that, but my guy just couldn't stand someone watching over his shoulder as he worked. Eventually started coming out less and less. I tried removing the coris wrasse (that was a nightmare) but alas, my goby didn't manage to recover. Here's to hoping I have better luck with his successor.

I'm currently cycling my first tank (around 100 gallons) and thinking about getting two diamond gobys once my tank had some fish in it for some weeks. Is it possible that these gobys actually replace other CuC members so you could actually make a full fish CuC without snails and crabs? Like gobys for the sand, tangs for alge and others?
