I tried this.....using the cornstarch to make my putty less tacky and harder..... it has been a game changer! I love it!!

I appreciate you doing this video, and I will try it if I get putty that's just too soft and "runny". This is coming from my own experience (and Lord knows I'm no expert), but you said some key things that you might want to consider. You said you are a "heavy placer"... I was/am also, but I'm training myself not to be. Once you get your putty loaded correctly (not overfilled), then you really don't need to press hard. The drills will stick to your canvas just fine - especially if you run over them with a roller (I think they call them a "brayer") when you get a section finished. The brayer will set the drills down in the glue and kind of lock them in... so you don't need to press so hard when placing. I would also press really hard when picking up drills from the tray... I'm trying to stop doing that too. That would just squish my putty out and I was having to constantly refill. Now I just use a soft touch to pick them up... again, if you have loaded your putty correctly, the drills will stay on your tip/multiplacer just fine. Another mistake I made and have broken the habit of doing.... using my multiplacer to "move" drills around on the canvas when I didn't like how they were lining up. Now, I just flip my pen around and use the single-placer end to push drills into the correct spot if they are a little "off" when I place them. Another thing I heard you mention was that you were using putty when placing AB drills. This is **never** going to work without frustration. AB's have a special coating on them that just doesn't work well with putty. The putty sticks to them too much and just leaves behind globs of putty on them. I personally place AB's with tweezers, one-by-one, unless it's a big area. In large areas I'll use wax. I really do appreciate your experiment and will use it if I get putty that's too "soft" (I live in a "hot" state too).

I don't start as a heavy placer but the more into the zone or meditative state I get in the harder I press. I learned not to use the multiplace to move the drills around after many times getting putty on the canvas doing that lol. I love this comment. ♡♡♡
