What I originally thought was static, turns out to be extremely oily diamonds. Thanks to Ella on KickinCancersButt and Diamond Painting channel, I show you how she gets the oil off those darn tiny drills. Hope it helps if you ever get stuck in this situation.
Looking for a store in the U.S.? Check out Diamond Art Club. I highly recommend this one: www.diamondart... Use the code DONI15 on any order as well for 15% every time you order!

Hi I had this problem. I used a ziplock bag with baby powder in. Shake and leave for about 15 mins. Tipped onto kitchen roll and cleaned off powder. I found the powder absorbed all oil and moisture.

Very nice tip, thank you! I will try that the next time I come across this. I know I have some oily bags packed away, so I know I will run into it again.

I love Tesslynn's happy little giggles. I don't get to see my grandkids as much anymore because they are in school and have so many activities that they do. I'm also 3 hours away from them most of the time. I'm going to see them next week, so I'm really excited. Kids are such good therapy sometimes. I love my solitude way too much these days, I need something to get me out in the fresh air. It's getting too cold to sit on my balcony now, I really love the warm weather.

Put them in a nylon stocking tie a knot and wash and dry them in it and once dry and clean they just empty out easy, u can use the same stocking over and over with no losses

Hi Doni, I watched your part 3 video on storage and organizing your diamond beads. I really liked the idea of using the plastic bags. I went to the store in the morning and brought some. I am very pleased with the result and ready to start my next painting. Thank you for such an informative video and look forward to watching many more.

I tried to find something about this since I hadn't heard of it before and my newest DP came with 6 of the 35 colors like this!! I wrote the company and they are sending new ones. I saw the same video as you mentioned after asking for replacements but I'm thinking it is something new because I couldn't find anything online and now I've seen a few videos. Thanks for sharing!

You're welcome! Like someone else said, it may be from the same packing company. Maybe it was one batch of several colors that got contaminated. No idea! But I hope it gets figured out and stops happening. It is no fun to have to stop your painting just to clean the drills.

omg my latest dp over half the colors have drills that are all stuck together with what felt like the wax you put on the pen tip. i would rub them between my fingers and they were sticking to the inside of my containers so badly. i finally took them and spread them on a baby wipeand folded it over and just kind scrubbed them a bit, then i poured them onto a dry paper towel and folded it over on them and dried them and they were perfect. and just a tip...the whole "aluminum foil balled up kills static" rumor is a load of crap.
@DPbyDoni
@DPbyDoni 6 жыл бұрын
Great tip on the baby wipe! I have those right next to my desk. So if I run into it again, I will try that. Sounds much easier than doing the soap thing. I haven't heard the one with the aluminum foil though. But I remember that it is just a rumor lol.

I had the same problem with the same color. Yuck. I did the same wash technique, but I also once washed, I dumped them on a clorox wipe for the kitchen and rubbed them in that. I pretty much dried them instantly, and separated them very well
@DPbyDoni
@DPbyDoni 6 жыл бұрын
In my most recent videos, I show using the clorox wipe to clean drills. You do not even need to wash them with the soap. The clorox wipe will do it all by itself :)

If you don't like using the sifter, you can always do it in a trouser sock or nylon sock. Ive seen someone else to that to wash their drills so they didn't lose any
@DPbyDoni
@DPbyDoni 6 жыл бұрын
I didn't even think of that when planning to try this out. Thanks! I had such a hard time with getting them back into the tray. I am wondering if that would be a big problem when using a sock or hose instead. If I get oily drills again, I will try this out. Thanks for the suggestion!

Maybe it's when they make them the machine has oil on it and that's why everything sticking together just an idea.... but I've ordered three or four diamond paintings and I've just been told I'm going to have to wait another couple of weeks before they turn up by Amazon because they're running late on the order and I just finished my last time painting and I have a couple of bags leftover of Sue colours not sure what to do with those I definitely don't think I will need them but I'll hold On Till I get my other diamond paintings gone through

Would you disclose the vendor that provided that kit. I have not ever had that problem and am wondering if it is vendor specific.
@DPbyDoni

It was just this one color, so I am thinking it was something that came from another source. I haven't had this issue with any other colors and I have several paintings from them. It was the store HomFun on Ali Express.

@DPbyDoni

Sometimes the oil from the machines (I'm guessing) get mixed in with the drills. This normally only happens in sub-par facilities. I've never had it happen when ordering from higher quality companies like Diamond Art Club or when the drills come weighed instead of in the chain of bags with 200 in each bag.

I have never had that problem. It does make me wonder if your and Ella's beads came from the same store. The only thing I have a problem with is static but even that is rare. I've also never had a canvas with an air bubble in the glue sheet not the glue sheet being stuck to the opaque paper. But there is only one seller I use so maybe that makes the difference
@DPbyDoni

The store that these came from is called HomFun store. I love their store and it just happened with this one color. I haven't heard her mention this store at all so it may be that they got some drills from an outside supplier that was the same place as the other.

In my review of Free Diamond Painting, I express my dislike of that companies "free" paintings. Plus, I was short drills, contacted them, they said they would send them to me and never did. So I won't order from them again.

I have a general question for everyone who has experience with square diamonds. I have just started my first kit and when i got it I noticed that some of the squares were molded with a diamond pattern on the top and some with a square pattern on top. Being a beaded jewelry maker this seemed odd to me, and when i got them onto the canvas they looked strange, so I decided to uuse the diamond patterned ones. naturally this left me short of diamonds so I ordered another kit. The new kit has different colors. I thought these were supposed to be DMC colors. Is there no color consistency? Need some advice. And where do you buy individual colors?
@DPbyDoni
@DPbyDoni 6 жыл бұрын
Ok, the shapes of the top of the diamonds have 2 different ones. They do this for the sparkle, I guess. But yes, they are supposed to be different. They do use the DMC colors, but just like in floss, they have different dye lots. This is why you use the ones that came with a certain kit on that kit. If you run out, you will want to match up your leftovers from a different kit with your DMC color chart to ensure you are getting the right color...or with the diamonds you are replacing so that they match that one. It would be very nice if each seller and each painting used a universal dye lot, but I haven't found this to be true as of yet. There are many sellers on Ali Express that sell individual colors, as well as Etsy. I believe the most popular seller on Etsy is Diamond Painting USA www.etsy.com/listing/590085042/dmc-407-413-414-415-round-or-square?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=diamond%20painting%20drills&ref=sr_gallery-1-1
