I got to experience the Diamond Princess earlier this year when it was briefly home porting in San Diego. I took a cruise in September on a different ship and from that ship we saw the Diamond Princess anchored outside the port of Puerto Vallarta (the Diamond wasn’t back in service yet), I managed to get a great photo at sunset of the Diamond so when I took a cruise on the Diamond I brought a print of that photo to leave for the Captain at guest services. What I did not expect was that the Captain liked the photo so much that he invited me to dine at his table one night and a tour of the bridge. It was such a wonderful experience along with the truly exceptional crew that the Diamond Princess holds a very special place in my heart.

We really loved our 2 cruises around Japan. One was on Diamond Princess and the other was Quantum of the Seas out of Shanghai. We are now looking at the Diamond Princess February 2025 itinerary from Sydney to Japan with a stop in the Philippines. Look forward to your review.

It depends on how comfortable you are- for a first visit to Japan, I’d book at least a few through the cruise line

Hi! Yes, but not much. I felt that Izumi was a bit crowded for my taste (I bought a pass, and didn't really end up using it). Otherwise, it was a dream! Bear in mind, we REALLY like this older class of ship. So, some may need a "newer" ship with bells and whistles- we don't. We like the covered pools, large mini suite cabins, etc that are part of the charm of these "older" ships.

HI Sheri: We have booked the 15 days Asian cruise with Diamond Princess in Dec. Can you share how much is it for each person for transferring from Narita airport to Hyatt Regency Yokohama by the Narita Limosuine Bus as I can only find the trip from airport to Tokyo. Thanks.
