The Pros:it lights up with working scanner and uses many lines from the tv series...The cons:very cheap plastic chassis,not opening headlights,hood or trunk...Since youre a HotWheels fan,get the HotWheels version and see for yourself...its good to have both versions this talking one and the other of HotWheels with all the details if youre of course a true Knight Rider fan...

KNI 667 was briefly used in the second season episode "Brothers Keeper". They were trying to evade the police because of a false APB. I have all four seasons on DVD and watch one episode every Friday. Knight Rider was one of two non-sitcom, non-cartoons I watched as a kid on NBC.

KNI 667 was featured only once in the original format (same as on dvd) of the episode "Brothers Keeper" in Season 2. The Hotwheels Elite KITT also features the changing plate.

Yeah, that stands out to me too. I keep trying to tell myself that I’m being too picky in being bothered by it, but the KITT body is so smooth that the toy’s excessively harsh definition lines do stand out.

I left my Micheal Knight completely strapped in the car! Otherwise I agree, I was hoping it would be bigger and have more of a size likeness to the figure I had back in the 80s. Ah well, at least Knight Rider is having a revival on multiple toy lines! :D

one of the best shows wen i was a kid and in one of the episodes peter cullen was guest voice as the "evil kitt" as i called and it wasnt til years later i watched it again and apperantly the people who made kitt made the prototype military model firt that went rogue and kitt was the second model

That was a very good review JT, there actually IS a way to make the stickers look better but it takes some work to get the effect right, I posted my video response on how I modded my K.I.T.T. dash to better enhance the details of the decals - Also KNI 667 is from the Season 1 episode "Brothers Keeper" where Michael switches KITT's plate to avoid detection. I really enjoy my DST 1:15 K.I.T.T. and I agree some things could have been better but they have to work within budget to keep prices down.

As far as the license plate flipping, in one episode KITT was being pursued by a state trooper because an APB was issued. Michael pressed the "Lic. Plate" button and flipped the plate, kinda like a James Bond maneuver. Once the KNI 667 plate was revealed the trooper called off the pursuit. This part of the episode was cut out of the syndication reruns. Its the second season episode title "BROTHER'S KEEPER"

You should get an display case for it to keep finger prints and dust off it. It can be hard to get dust off the interior. Cases usually go for 7$.

Great review man! That just brought me back to my childhood. Knight Rider was one of my fav shows. Now if Diamond Select would do a version of the General Lee from Dukes Of Hazard my childhood would be complete.

OH...and maybe DST will offer window tinting as an option on the SPM version...but you have to get it with the premium package that comes with molecular bonded shell, undercoating and floormats...Haha!

Correct.. its from that episode. And coincidentally, the feature is present on both hot wheels and diamond select kitt. Except the license plate feature on the hot wheels elite kitt feels a lot more fragile, i try not to mess around with the license plate feature on my elite kitt too much..

So I just looked up the old Kenner KITT my cousin had when I was lil... wow.... $159. Yeah, for $60 I think I'd go for this. How's the dash? It look ok? Also any neat features like light up scanner?

It is a toy anyway.. And the hood scoop is the way it is because they will use the same part to do a super pursuit version of KITT. DST will simply attach a super pursuit style hood scoop in that slot.. A good way to cut cost since remolding a different hood would only make it cost more...

The 3"3/4 figure, as bad as it is, would look pretty good next to the 1/18 Hot Wheels K.I.T.T. I wish Diamond Select would make a Robocop Ford Taurus... Flat black paint, working light bar & siren. Oohhh yes.

There's a short sound list: engine noise, engaging/disengaging blower, low fuel warning, "I'm just here for the gasoline", "You want to get out of here? You talk to me.", "The arrangement was I wouldn't kill you. I reckon you got a bargain, didn't you?", "The last of the V8 Interceptors... a piece of history! Would've been a shame to blow it up.", EXPLOSION. Put the rest of the budget into super-detailing

Diamond select toys made the exclusive kitt,non exclusive kitten,karr,kitt's evil prototype,and spm kitt from season 4. But,my all time favorite version of kitt is his convertible mode. Diamond Select Toys needs to go back and made that version of kitt with his top down and that back piece that sits directly behind the front seats and stretches back to the trunk. Now that would be a totally freaking awesome version of a diamond select toys knight rider kitt car to have.

Great review! Cool toy! Before I voice a few minor criticisms of it tho...I'd like to mention I have a video on my Channel Knight Rider fans might enjoy. Its a "voice tweaked" version of KITT from the GE Locomotive commercial. I "adjusted" it so it sounds more like KITT did 30 yrs ago and less like Mr.Feeny. On the toy. Very nice but the hood shouldve been molded as one piece. The snap on scoop doesnt look right and is too tall also. T-tops and hatch needed darker tint. Otherwise I like it!

I already have the regular one that came without a figure.. I have this on order, still waiting for it, and as I had expected and feared, the 3 3/4" figure of Michael Knight is too small for the 1/15 KITT.. But this toy is like a modern take on the classic Kenner Knight 2000 Voice Car, I just wish the figure was more to scale with the car, otherwise its really cool..

Hey buuddy, a lil FYI, if u're seriously worried about fingerprints on KITT, wear Powder-Free Rubber Gloves, they actually have 'em n black. So no worries, there. How do like them crab apples? Hasselhoff is abt 1.93m in height... To have a figure in scale with the car, they should've done a 5" figure at least which would've been closer to scale with the car. And yes, the figure that comes with this KITT would go closer to scale with a 1/18 scaled KITT car, the new 1/18 KITT from Hot Wheels Elite comes to mind....

Thanks for a good, useful, fair-minded review. You don’t waste time blathering on like some people but you do cover all that I wanted to know. I agree with your assessment overall, a fine product. You’re right, it’s a pity that the figure is so undersized. I could probably have forgiven the sculpting shortcomings, it is at least recognizable as the character, but having 6’4” famously tall Michael Knight be represented by a shrimp who can’t even reach his steering wheel was a cheap-out choice by the makers that kills the fun of the figure. I’d rather have had a cruder sculpt or less articulation in the right scale. Thanks for your work.

Good point on the hood. Easier to change to SPM. I was never a fan of that feature. Some aspects of the show and car were plausible or could be at some point...but 300+mph in the city without hitting something and the tires held the road? Maybe with hot tar on them! SPM - a group of street guys rebuilds a high tech turbine car that took teams of scientists years to develop and adds airplane style airbrakes and aerodynamics. LOL! Least we didn't have to hear Hoff sing the opening theme...ROFL!!!

That Knight Rider KITT car is better than the original Knight 2000 voice car by Kenner, unlike the Knight 2000 voice car the sensor light works and have working fog lamps, tail lamps and KITT's gadgets lights up and his voice box lights up when he talks.
