I married the love of my life and only went with a .35 carat diamond ring because that’s all I could afford. She now has been wearing that ring for over 9 years. For those reading this, size shouldn’t matter! Love matters. I will now be presenting her a 1.5 carat diamond ring for our 10 year anniversary.

In the end it's all about prestige and ego. My ex-husband was in the jewelry business and I had an impressive 2-carat cushion cut that everyone ooohed and ahhed about. It really was obnoxious compared to my size finger and hand. I am now recently engaged to a wonderful man and we decided to save the $$ and I got a beautiful high quality princess cut stone that is about 1/3 of a carat. It looks perfect and elegant on my little 5 1/2 size finger. Now I get genuine complements instead of "jealous" ones. LOL PS. I dont have the old ring, it was given to a relative to keep in the family.

I never really understood carats. When you watch TV everyone makes a big deal about 3, 4, 5 carat rings, but as someone who is a size 6 similar to the model everything over 1 carat just looked huge to me. I'll go with a .95 and save money. This video is very educational thank you

Actually normal / big / small size of a diamond depends on the society where you live. If most people around you buy 1 ct diamond then this size is normal. If most people buy 0.1 ct or 10 ct diamond then this size is normal for you (psychologically). The author says that "0.25 ct diamond is very unimpressive and normally people don't go this low for a center stone diamond". It isn't correct and the author should say which people don't go this low and which does. In 2nd world countries 0.25 ct is a big diamond (can be compared to 2 ct in 1st world countries). In fact, most engagement rings in such countries are between 0.05 ct and 0.15 ct. If we are talking about 3rd world countries, then the ring with any diamond is a rare. Just think, how would you feel if you open some video and the author says "4 ct diamond is very unimpressive and normally people don't go this low for a center stone diamond. Mostly people start from 15 ct". Hope I didn't offend anyone. I do understand that the video is focused for a special category of people but please be ethical. Sorry for the criticism.

I purchased from a competitor of the site listed for a pendant necklace and was AMAZED at how transparent and easy the process was. I look at all jewelry stores like used car lots now. Spend a little bit of time, educate yourself and make you AND your partner happy. Videos like this help, but is not the end all. Madelynn DeJarlais Lab-created diamonds have no resale value. That means if you buy a lab-created diamond, you won't be able to reap any part of what you paid for it. For example, if you bought this 1ct lab-created diamond, you'd have a beautiful stone, yet no jeweler will buy it back.

@@Algin1224 I will never buy a lab diamond for my engagement ring with the intention of selling it again, and I refuse to take part of a system that exploits people at every angle of the process, it isn't about the imaginary value of what's on your hand, it's about the people who gave it to you. Whether the person made the diamond, cut the diamond, or bought the diamond for you to be engaged, everyone in the process matters.

4 carat is perfect. Upgrading from a 2 to a 3 carat, SI2 (boo), H color, very good cut. Looking at it tomorrow, hope it's eye clean.

Online is a good tool for price shopping and doing your research but by all means it is not the best place to buy a diamond. Go to a trusted store where the sales person won’t act like a typical used car salesman and who will take the time to help you find what you want in your budget. Good luck online buying blindly which is no better than buying from a chain brick and mortar store where they only want to sell sell sell. They don’t care about you at all. Some stores actually want to be your trusted jeweler and not just rip you off.

What is the average size for a center stone for an engagement ring vs a wedding ring? Also if you have a diamond ring that is 1/20 of a karat how would I know if that is the total weight? The way the jeweler explained it to me is that the center stone for a ring 1/20 in size is a simulated stone and the little diamonds that surround it are actually pieces of a real diamond... if that makes any sense.... is that true for all smaller karat rings? Thank you!

I have a 4 carat one and it looks way smaller on my finger (more like the 2.75 in this video) I guess I have big hands (size 7.25)... makes research a lot harder 😅😅

It's probably a very deep cut..ie: more diamond from top to bottom..than around. That's the mark of an older diamond..mine cut (cut right in thr mine) etc. This was before just a few people cornered the market. They are spactacular with facets..and wonderful under light ot in the sun! Great sparkle.

I can't tell that you're already lying. Why would you throw a statement of bitcoin as if the public needs to know that you've made thousands allegedly. Someone who has money does not need to prove anything to say otherwise. I guarantee you did not buy it. Lol

Are all the diamonds in James Allen brilliant cut? Sometimes I notice it doesn't mention the cut when I look at pear shaped or oval diamonds

I am a bit confused. All diamonds up to 0.5 carat are looking perfect for me. They are decent. I have the money for a bigger diamond, but i go for one under 0.5 carat. My heart is telling me thats the right choice. Thank you for the video.
