I instantly thought about the kinds of precision Fresnel lenses you could make on this. It probably would require some cutting fluid of some kind, though. Cool stuff, as always. Keep it up!

Distinct shades of record cutting, but for that PETG is the plastic of choice if using a diamond, and speeds are way lower. The chip removal there is usually a small vacuum nozzle placed close to the cutter, and static causing the chip to gum up the works is a known issue in that game.

You'd almost one shot those single piece telescopes. Getting alignment after flipping is of course trivial and left as an exercise for the reader😅

@@lumotroph I think he was gifted the spindle (after trying to make his own) but I think the slideways and drives are his own design / manufacture - have a look through some of the older videos.

Beautiful! I can relate to the finishing pass nesting up like that: maybe brass might be a good metal to try out, it's quite well behaved and doesn't like to make strings? I dunno I think this is awesome :)

maybe a thin but constant flowing about if liquid ( maybe the way oil ) over the diamond and not just the side blast will keep chips/the material from sticking to the diamond ( since it will only be in contact with the cutting edge of the tool but never when the rest of the tool do to the constant liquid film on top )

Sadly probably kill the acrylic though (or the geometry due to warping/stress relief) :(

Awesome Project ! Hearing the hissing air, I wonder if turbulent airflow around the diamond tool tip introduces virbations possible degrading the surface finish ?

We’re pretty far off from that being our biggest problem 😂. That would be a good place to be though. Also dude! Sick channel, hope it gets some well deserved attention and can’t wait to see where that project goes

Very mysterious code comments. Can't stop thinking why (total OCD). Did you write them first and added the code later? What's going on?
@cylosgarage
@cylosgarage 11 ай бұрын
Lollll they’re for the dumb monkey who has to use the code (me). The “don’t forget to change me” is because it would be a particularly disastrous crash if I forgot to change it when running a program with a different sized tool

@@cylosgarage I understand you were trying to be neat, that's kinda why I'm writing this. Generally, people use comments when they run out of descriptive variable names or there's something complex to describe (google "funny code comments" for some laughs), if the only thing you are adding is "duh" or "of" there's no need. "Don't forget" could/should probably go between dashed lines, similar to "PARMETERS", if it's so important, but then again, if there would be less visual clutter... Naturally, I expect you to loose all sleep over this and feel very very guilty for the rest of your life.
