Although I tend to favor a more serious and mature take on the caped crusader and family, I think the Schumacher films and the Adam West tv series are both fine adaptations and both deserve their place among the adaptations of these beloved characters. Though I have yet to see anything close to the style of Schumacher’s films, I’m glad to see more modern comic book movies embrace the weird and strange elements of comics, even if it’s for a short laugh or a reference. Plus I feel like the constant backlash and hate these movies got negatively impacted a lot of the Batman fandom, especially how a lot of people interpret Batman as being cold, lifeless and inhuman. I definitely think Batman as a symbolic figure should be inhuman to his adversaries, but not personally inhuman. Even when he’s most stoic and hardened, Bruce is still a human being. He struggles with his emotions and he knows when to show his human side. Even the animated series version, which is geared towards all families, has an emotional weight and maturity not found in most adaptations. Bruce not only cares for his family and friends, but he also shows complex emotions in many ways. When Superman is believed to be dead, Bruce gives a heart breaking speech at his grave praising Clark for showing him that justice doesn’t need to come from a dark place. When a weak and old Bruce points a gun at a criminal assailant, he’s filled with deep disgust and regret that he’d even consider taking the life of another human. He experiences trauma numerous times for lives he’s failed to save. Above all else, when a younger, troubled hero dies of an aneurysm, Bruce stays with her, comforting her in her last minutes.

@@BostonMBrand I feel like we need a Batman movie that’s goofy and light hearted, while still being dark and sinister. Best of both worlds. The best way I can describe it would be that Batman would wear a suit with Navy Blue. It’s not overly bright, but it’s also not incredibly dark.

Personally I think while all dc movies are fine with their own style, I’d enjoy a brighter looking DCEU with serious tones.
