TREATED LUMBER FLOORING
Pressure treated Pine flooring is the most commonly used wood flooring material in trailers. The abundant supply of Pine wood in the south coupled with its sturdy nature make for a solid basic flooring choice.
OAK FLOORING
When you know the job is grueling and the floor of your trailer is going to take a beating, the Oak Floor option is for you. Since Oak is a hardwood, it is a much denser wood than industry standard Pine, therefore it is not as susceptible to being gouged, scraped, or broken down like its softer pine counterpart.
Oak is ideal for use with tracked equipment such as dozers, skid steers, excavators, etc. Additionally, Oak is a great choice for users that engage in a high amount of side loading various palletized material.

I use 5/4 pt deck boards on my atv trailers. Definitely heavy enough for the purpose of the trailers.

1" steel grating is a great alternative and can be purchased used from multiple locations. Works out to about $4.00 per square foot. Lasts much longer, lighter than pressure treated wood.

🏆🏆🏆👍🇺🇲🙏 I love my Blackwood deck ⭐ Not yours, but I've seen cheap untreated pine floors in horse trailers fail and a horse steps they and their legs go to the road below and they must be desired. Horrible thing. I guess Bois de Arc wood can't be made into flooring. It last for a hundred years and the older it gets, seems you can't hardly put a nail into it Thank you for sharing.

How much heavier is the 3/16 diamond plate steel than the treated pine floor?

Have you looked into apitong? See a lot of large trailer manufacturers using it. Didn't know if it would be too heavy for a gooseneck application.

Great question! We have done Apitong a time or two over the years on custom occasion. It is a harder and more dense wood than both Pine or Oak. Comparatively is twice as heavy as pine, very expensive and not as available to source, making Oak a more appropriate choice for a rugged flooring option in our part of the industry.

Does oak slick out in the rain or under snow/ice like pine or hold it’s own like blackwood? If it holds is own when frozen and wet with rubber and tracks then it’ll totally get a good sealer.

Just got my new DEC210 with the oak flooring upgrade and it was NOT worth it. Really disappointed with the wood quality. I fully expected rough cut and don't expect it to be pretty. But this wood is extremely warped, there's large sections where old stickers were on the wood and ripped off (leaving behind peeled-sticker residue), etc. Not okay at this price point.

On the metal floors should you order cross beams on 12 inch centers,? Where on wood floors you could go 16 inch centers.

That’s a great question! For the vast majority 16” centers works great. However if you work one pretty hard and/or load machines that are concentrated in weight, the 12” center option is a good idea.

Is dump trailer construction backed up talked to my dealership they said my trailer won’t be done till Nov 12 2021 I ordered it June 2021 initial due date was middle of October I am sad I got all this work and no trailer

Great question! We did pause the composite project for now. Working well in most applications but still needs some fine tuning 😁.
