Let's be honest, we have been spoiled by Usain Bolt for the past 12 years with 9.8 and below.

I love how in that final race, they didn't mention Ackeem Blake even once, even though he was the one Brommell had to beat, and Bracy barely got him. Not even on the replay. I can usually forgive oversight when you're watching 8 lanes at once, but surely the person who gets out of the blocks fastest and claims a close 3rd deserves at least one mention?

@@ABLQuality lane 1 and lane 8 athletes are usually never mentioned because they're so far away from the centre of the race and the fastest racers also usually occupy the centre lanes (whether the athletes get a choice or by method of qualifiying times during the heats in the event of a tournament format), but that's also why they replay the race so soon after so that the viewer can have a look at the other athletes as well as the commentator being able to go back over the other athletes they didn''t mention

Athletes need to learn to stay in their lane immediately after crossing the line. Always hate when athletes cross the line and immediately get in someone else's lane. Someone could get seriously injured.

Be nice if a professional T&F season in WC/Olympic years culminated in those global champs. The sport/calendar needs to be restructured to make this happen!
@timmytheinventor47462 жыл бұрын
Ehh, nah. I like the way it is. It certainly doesn't need to happen. For example: Lyles ran 19.31 in Oregon. Just imagine if that was the last meet of the season for him. No one would know if that was a fluke, if he was actually back on top of the 200m again. But because he ran Monaco and Lausanne, we know that he can handily beat world class fields with fast times. Having the Olympics and Worlds being the last meet of the season leaves us with a lot of questions.
@jordanjordannis22582 жыл бұрын
Not my preference. I want the world champions to have a post world season to show off their peaks, not just a whole season building up and only one meet at their best. I want grudge matches, like when Shelly and Elaine did battle repeatedly after the Olympics last year. I don't believe there's any need for a restructure.

He was injured/recovering during a big part of the season and came back at 95% for the European championship in Munich, enough to win.. The rest of the relay don't have the level to be top contender in diamond league, Philipo tortu, maybe but more on the 200

At each Diamond League meeting that precedes the final, athletes score points in 'Diamond Discipline' events. These points form a league table, that the final uses to invite athletes to compete for the Diamond Trophy. 9.9 is still fast time for this time of the season and only 3 athletes have ever run under 9.7 so setting that as a barometer is mad

It's clear you never actually followed T&F dude... Only 11 athletes in HISTORY have ever broken under 9.80 and that usually happens once or twice a season AT BEST.
@Linci10Linci2 жыл бұрын
lol you are delusional and your "barometer" is somehow broken. 10.00 is the real one for men and always will be. You cant progress forever and saying that 9.7 or not impressed in sport where only 3 people ever run bellow that is so disrespectful to other athletes. I guess Asafa Powell wasnt fast right? as his PB is "only" 9.72...Hell even 10.7 is superhuman fast and respectable for anyone who ever tried to run 100 or actually know whats going on
