Great video, I had one follow-up question on Schwab's fees. The BondSource System Agreement and Disclosure Statement (displayed at 5:15) states "When you purchase new issue Bonds in the System, Schwab receives a placement fee or selling concession for providing distribution and operational services, which generally ranges from less than 0.01% to 2% of the par value, or face amount, of the bond, depending on the product." Does this imply that the original seller of the bond may pay Schwab the "placement fee or selling concession?" It's not clear who pays Schwab the fee.

Thanks for all of the videos. Recently my 13 week T-Bill matured and I had the rollover set to YES in Schwab. I thought Schwab would do the purchase on Monday and then use the maturing funds from Thursday to settle. This did not happen though. The rollover did not take place until the following Monday, so basically lost one week of interest. (I pushed the funds into Fed Funds MM but this was a hassle cuz I will have to sell those to settle.) I turned this auto rollover feature off for future T-Bills and will manage them myself. Let me know if I am mistaken.

Hi, thanks a bunch for the valuable and clearly-explained info. I have 3 questions: 1). What’s the difference between buying T-bills on the Treasury Direct website linking to my bank acct. vs. buying T-bills from Schwab using funds in my Schwab acct.? I don’t see any difference. 2). Buying via Treasury Direct, it allows the buyer to specify the number of times to auto-renew or to stop auto-renew, but I don’t see that feature in this video for Schwab. 3). By selecting “yes” for auto enroll on Schwab, how many times will the purchased bill be renewed? Thanks.

Jennifer...I wanted to update you on the auto-rollover of 17-week T-Bills, or rather, the "non-auto-rollover" situation that existed when you first made this video. I just had a 17-week T-Bill mature, one I had checked off to automatically roll over. Well, it was auto-rolled the same day it matured! Clearly, something changed at Schwab and I would like to think that you and the community called Schwab, as I did, to keep asking questions. They advertised auto-rollover on the website and didn't disable the auto-rollover button when buying a 17-week T-Bill. As a former marketing professional, I took that and both explicit and implicit confirmation that it was possible and told them so. To tell me that it couldn't be done, broke the "truth in advertising rule" most companies are bound to. So, it now appears that the 17-week T-Bill can be rolled over. I will check to see what happens when the next one comes due. Thanks for all you do and teach us here!

@@DiamondNestEgg Fir the 2nd time, my 4-mo. T-bill rolled over at Schwab, so they have integrated it into their rollover feature. I bought an 8 week t bill on Schwab , then a 4 week 1 month later, both matured on the same day. Both were set up for reinvestment. When reinvested Schwab combined both of them and gave me a new 4 week Tbill instead of an 8 week and 4 week. They say because the have same cusip and they can't differentiate. I said you were able to differentiate when I purchased and allowed me to reinvest so why not now? Same cusip is the answer. They do not agree that something is wrong with their system.
