even those in homophobic countries that DID cut the episode most likely still saw the episode (atleast those who have unrestricted internet access). Since theres a sudden gap in the lore it would likely prompt people to pirate the episode to figure out why stevens suddenly buddy buddy with the diamonds, and they cant just cut out the wedding since it would ALSO confuse people as to why the CG's are dressed fancy. So really rebeccas plan to make it a plot relevant episode works even if they straight up banned the episode from airing

You aren’t wrong about it feeling rushed. Rebecca Sugar and the other creators were rushed by CN to end the series after Garnets wedding and specifically after Ruby and Sapphires first “real” kiss. Homophobia strikes. They needed to hurry up and finish the story with the time they had left 😔

Ruby wearing a dress was Rebecca's middle finger towards CN so it can't be denied it's a homosexual relationship in other countries through their translations. Also Lapis being the only gem to withstand Blue Diamond's power and savagely saying "Heh, I've felt worse" is one of the coldest moments of this show.

Production note: This episode was supposed to be the final episode of the season. The rest of the episodes could have been expanded into season 6 and/or maybe 7, but then the Cartoon Network executives attacked. So if we were rushed before now we are sprinting to the end

​@@wlfandy so many people diss into hating Steven Universe's ending even though the way it was rushed was bc of CN censors, Rebecca wanted to have the wedding episode but she wasn't allowed to under the excuse of it being 'too boring', so she did the diamonds coming so the executives couldn't cancel nor cut the episode. CN allowed the wedding under Rebecca having to choose either it, or the last season. The crew did what they could with the few extra episodes they had left, so that's pretty much why everything was solved so quickly

Fusions can change their outfits a lot more frequently, as their relationship changes and as they reform the fusion each time they split apart. We saw how the first time Garnet fused, she was kind of half and half, because Ruby and Sapphire weren't close, and but of course now they are inseparable and their relationship is much more stable, so they don't change nearly as much.

They also specifically made Garnet’s wedding episode heavily plot relevant. They did this so that it would be much harder to censor/not air the “gay wedding episode” in homophobic countries.

Honestly, Ruby and Sapphire's wedding was a moment in cartoon history I didn't think I really needed in my life before it happened. Their wedding was so darn beautiful! ❤💙

A large part of Steven's abilities besides basic gem abilites can fall under 'empathy.' It's a very important character trait for Steven and it encompasses the majority of his powers. These include healing (and revival), protecting (i.e. bubble and shield), seeing past (and current/future?) events through another's eyes (such as Blue Diamond visiting the palanquin or Pink Diamond memory reenactments), mind linking (connecting to conscience of the Cluster as well as the Crystal Gems, Blue, and Yellow in this episode), and possesion (i.e. Lars and the Watermelon Stevens). The powers are presented in a disjointed kind of way but if you look back on them they all kind of work together in a way that makes sense. Just thought I'd point it out since the weird mindscape portion at end of the episode is quite strange to work out on a first watchthrough of the show.

he wasnt seeing the future when he saw blue visiting earth, he was just connecting with Blue directly and seeing through her eyes, i assume blue stayed in the palanquin for a few days since for gems that is like a few hours, thats why he was crying since by seeing through blue's eyes he felt her sadness

But I do agree that her being there for a bit is more likely.

I always say steven has environmental manipulation/spacetime manipulation powers, with the diamonds fitting into the physicality, emotions, and mind of a person. This is why pink is the most powerful, the others powers only work on gems, hers works on any and everything

One of the reasons something so plot heavy happened during her wedding episode is so that way certain places would have a harder time censoring this episode, because something so plot heavy happened. That’s also why the typical outfits for ruby and Sapphire were switched. Not to mention, the show was really rushed because garnets kiss/marriage scene. Yay homophobia… 😐🙃

I know what you're trying to say about light! The primary colors are different for mixing light (additive color, because you're adding light/brightness with each one) vs mixing paint/ink/pigment (subtractive color, because you're subtracting light/brightness with each color). The additive primaries are red, blue, and green, and when you mix all three you get white. That's why RGB screens are called that. The subtractive primaries are cyan, magenta, and yellow, and when you mix them all you get black. That's why those are the colors of printer ink cartridges. (It's also why CMYK color is called that--K is for black to avoid confusion with blue.)

Also, steven has empathy powers. That's why he switches bodies with Lars, can see blues memories, connect with lapis, kiki and the cluster in his dreams, and then he does what he does here. The show implies this a lot but I feel like when airing it was hard(for me, at least) to understand why his powers worked how they did. Rebecca sugar also elaborates on this in a podcast episode, but I'll wait until u react to a few more before saying anything, idk how far u are on pateron
