My husband and I actually met playing World of Warcraft. We met in 2009. I only stopped playing last year when I discovered DPing. I do still occasionally play Heroes of the Storm, but that’s easy to pick up and drop. I will play it with my husband for an hour or two here and there. 🥰

I enjoy watching your cross stitch conversion, not sure I would have be able to concentrate on it for long periods of time though. All that thinking...lol. I would definitely need to break it up by working on it up to a certain point before working on another canvas. Got a good chuckle listening to Skip's kitten antics in the background. Makes me miss having a kitty. One of many loves and hobbies is also gaming and while Diamond Painting has taken up some of that time I do try to bounce between the two as I am in the mood. Although most years I do a dedicated 4 day gaming event at a local rec centre which I always look forward to. 24 hr gaming at it's finest.

I'm a gamer too! I got really excited when you said that the Kingdom Hearts franchise is one of your favorites cause that's my top franchise of games to play! My favorite one is Kingdom Hearts 2 but the first one is a close second! For the cross stitch conversion, I would say I would work on it up to a certain percentage of your choice and then go and do a regular diamond painting or 2. Like maybe do 1 or 2% on the cross stitch conversion and then go do a regular diamond painting.

Have a wonderful time with your family. I enjoyed the WIP. Life is life and there are always bumps . If I was doing this I would probably handle it like I do my WIPS in that I try to rotate the 2 I have going on week days and do off canvas on the weekends. At least try to work them evenly even if it’s a week at a time. Most important is to enjoy working on them. Peace and love abide with you 💕😋

I don't know if I'd ever tackle a cross stitch conversion, but it's a joy to watch you do it and go through your processes. One idea to flip flop may be to see how time how long it takes you to complete a full column, take that time, compare it to how long it takes you to do any other diamond painting to completion, and then just multiply the "column" time to equal a full diamond painting. I.e. if it takes you on average 5 days to complete a column on the conversion chart, and it normally takes you 10 days to complete a diamond painting, then you'd do 2 full columns of the conversion, swap to 1 diamond painting, then swap back to the conversion. Or if you're on a roll and want to push more with the conversion chart, then do a 2:1 time ratio, conversion to regular painting. Hope that made sense =T anyways, have a great family trip! Love the kitten/cat stories sprinkled within your WIP & chats =)

Hi Katie, thank you for the WIP and chat. I am very much a one canvas at a time person. I get a lot of anxiety if I'm working on more than one at a time. BUT I haven't worked on a conversion yet and it does seem like more work than a normal canvas. In that case I may have to break it up. Sorry, I'm not much help! Glad to hear Skipp is settling in and hopefully he grows up quickly and stops eating your stuff! Hope you have a great vacation/ holiday with your family! It's a bit cold on this side of the country so make sure you bring your winter coats. I'm sure it will be worth it though!

Unfortunately, my brain will only let me work on 1 project at a time so if I were to tackle a conversion, I would have to at least finish 1 panel before I could start anything else. I am a determined person who maybe shouldn’t be. 😂. I only single space and I only do one painting at a time unless it’s seasonal. After the season I put away what is not finished until the next year. I also hold my stash at 15 I get overwhelmed easily and Michigan winters are hard on nec😢. Love your WIP and chats. It was really cool getting to see your process for starting the conversion chart! Did you know you can turn off the page breaks in pattern keeper? I can see how it wouldn’t be necessary and can throw you off. Press the gear in the upper right, and scroll down to Lines, there’s an option to turn off pages breaks or change the color of that. We have three cats in our house and one at mommas. My partner found Smoke outside the old apartment building and now hes our prince. Hes really attached himself to my partner and Im so glad he did. Thats what I was hoping would happen! Isha and Christina are my and my husband's companion cats. They've been with us since the day they were born. 8 years now. Isha is my whole world on four lil paws. But she HATES Smoke. Like with a passion. She swipes at him any time she sees him. 🤞🏻 Shes still getting used to him, hopefully. 😅 I also have a 1 year old Aussie Shepard puppy. Shes super smart and can figure everything out. You can't trick her anymore. Shes training to be my service animal. For public and everything. But she is still learning... Anyway rant over. I am just so glad that your lil has Skip. Animals help us in so many ways! They will be friends for all of Skip's life! Its amazing to watch

YES the Horizon games are so good!! I really enjoyed watching my husband play them. I also play video games here and there, but have a huge stack of games to play because I'm usually doing other hobbies. Totally get that. I do like watching my husband play video games while I craft and I also like to watch playthroughs on youtube for games I know we're not going to play (including older games). Also a big heck yes to "story mode" (easy mode). I play to have fun. Props to folks who find enjoyment in higher difficulty levels, but that's not how I want to invest my time these days. (And nice to see the actual setup for this panel! I didn't find you particularly frazzled!) 🐢

We got 2 Siamese brothers from the same litter! 12 years ago, and think of Si and Am from Lady and the tramp! Thats who they reminded us, and others of! Limps, and into everything! The breeder told us, that they will make everything a toy! I have never done or know the ins and outs of doing a conversion, but have done lots of harder, on linen XStitch, think i would like to maybe try eventually, but i consider myself still a newbie Diamond painter, i do single placing, and only work on 1 at a time! Loved the video! Could you please give some tips on how to keep the canvas flat on the table and prevent it from lifting from edges while diamond painting. I mean when I press to place the drills on the canvas, the canvas lifts. Any tips to keep the canvas in place?

Hmm, good question! I usually have my tools and my set of drill storage containers sitting on the canvas nearby, and I also rest my arm on the canvas near where I’m working. Those things seem to help ☺️

I started playing the first Horizon game but fell off of it for a few years here. I get urges here and there to go back to it and start playing again, but I would definitely have to start over because I don't remember the story to where I progressed very well. I know I got a good way in though, so I'm not super stoked to start over 😅

Maybe you could try to read story summaries of the main missions you finished? You could refresh your memory on the story without having to start over! I just know that would be a barrier to me going back to a game, so I thought I’d suggest it ☺️

Yay another horizon zero dawn fan! It took me a while to get back into the controls for forbidden west as well- but the story is EPIC. And playing on easy is better if you don’t want to spend your precious gaming time trying to shoot parts off the machines for upgrades (I enjoyed it but it was pretty time consuming). I hope the travel goes smoothly and you get a lot of rest!

Good morning! I know what you're talking about with cat shenanigans. My family has 3 cats. 2 of them are pretty chill, the 3rd one Emmie barges through the gaps in my baby gate no matter how many times I remove her from my room. The other day she got through and peed on my bed but the mattress protector saved me. So I got a mesh baby gate that hooks to the door jam and the cats can't get through now. I do play some games every now and again. I casually play FFXIV and Terraria. I used to be a LOL addict and quit at the begging of 2014. I tried to go back to the game 3 times but then I saw the salt and the LOL devs cracking down on said salt to the point where people wouldn't use chat in game amore and that pretty much killed it.

I’m considering doing a HAED conversion onto a spare DAC canvas where I used the drills for a different purpose. This means I would be doing a HAED design over top of another design, rather than using a blank canvas. Have I lost my mind or you we think it will work?

Good question! I would maybe be worried about the colors printed on the canvas showing around the drills, especially any light-colored drills. Depending on the piece, it could work? Definitely an interesting experiment! Maybe try it with a piece you’re not planning to display, just in case it doesn’t quite work out.

Skipp sounds like a perfectly healthy and normal kitten, doing all the kitten fun and games 😻 We have ben fostering a handful of abandoned litters and it is a lot of work, but also very rewarding seeing these teeny tiny kittens grow up to big and amazing kittens 😸 In Denmark a kitten, by law, has to stay with their mom or fosterparent until 12 weeks, some even keep them until 16 weeks, since it is proven, that kittens learn soo much in those weeks about being a mentally healthy cat 🐈 So, you asked what we would do with a project like yours, I would for sure had put those 5 drills on my old canvas since it had room for them 🙂 My brain would totally find that the only workable solution. Otherwise I would start to worry if it might only be 4 ekstra rows instead of 5 on this canvas 😱😱 It would be a whole thing 😅😅

I would just divide the canvas into sections based on when I want it completed. So if you want that section done in 30 days divide it into 30. 😊

I have 2 10+ yr old cats and 2 2 yr old cats. We haven’t had the 2 younger ones for a year yet. I feel the knocking things off and doing odd things compared to the old ones. The youngest is still full of kitten and I just have to keep things cleaned up and laugh at her antics. Just laugh at the kitten hood and try to let it go as much as possible! Sorry about the mic cord though!

I use the Pattern Keeper app! It’s not currently available for Apple devices but is apparently in development 🤞🏻 But I bought an Amazon Fire tablet on Prime Day and was able to get Pattern Keeper on there. And yes! You can contact Jade and she can walk you through ordering drills and a canvas from her shop - she’s super helpful!

Partly because of that, but also because I stopped the first panel at the exact halfway point of the chart, which was partway through one of the 10x10 grids, and I wanted to keep with the dark lines on the canvas matching up with the dark lines in Pattern Keeper. I know, it was confusing!! Sorry about that!
