I hope you will do more reactions with her music. There is so much to experience with her. She was 18 when she did this performance, the first of nine she did in a television contest across 9 weeks in Russia. All her work was terrific, and each was unique. But she was shocking judges and audiences (me included) long before this performance. Please react to something from "You Are Super." It was a contest for Russian children who had been without parental care (basically, orphans) as Diana Ankudinova was from the age of 3. Abused an dumped at a bus stop with a broken collarbone, cut and bruised, she was sent to an orphanage. Helluva story, and it's clear she takes nothing for granted. Watch any of her contest performances at the ages of 14 and 15, and you will agree that she is, indeed, a magnificent performer with, as you said, a unique voice. She is a "dramatic contralto" by range and timbre, with naturally occurring polyphonic tones (yes, you can actually hear it quite often) and today she has developed the ability to sing powerfully across 4 octaves. Greetings from Scotland! Yes, this is a normal reaction when Diana sings! Diana was just 18yo here and is 20yo currently but I've been following her career since she was around 13yo. Diana is a natural Dramatic Contralto so the lower registers are her comfort zone but she has increased her range even more since this. She also naturally sings with polyphonic overtones so it sounds like many voices at the same time! Any song, any genre, in any language, Diana can sing it and improve it! You need a little back story to understand what helped "create" this unique phenomenon:- Diana's birthmother had multiple miscarriages but when Diana came along, she seemed to hate her. She verbally and physically abused her, trying to drown her and belittle her. It all culminated when (at 3yo) a passing relative found her in her home with a broken collarbone and several other injuries. She went for the authorities who removed Diana from her birthmothers care and placed her in an orphanage. For almost 2 years Diana never gave up hope and she knew that she was meant for something better. (This story is in her Wikipedia entry) Finally her new mother (Irina Ponik, who worked as a masseuse there occasionally) Signed her adoption papers and took her home. She vowed to pay Irina back for her kindness. Irina had a real struggle because Diana had obviously been badly affected by the experiences and at 5yo, she had a very bad stammer. It was recommended that she be taken for singing lessons to help this and immediately it was recognised that Diana had perfect pitch and an excellent ear for music and songs. 1 year later, at 6yo, Diana was performing solo on stage! This young unique phenomenon sang everywhere and anywhere she could, working constantly to earn money for the family who rescued her. At 13yo she held her 1st solo concert and one of the songs she sang was in a very rare Sephardic Jewish/Spanish dialect, a song called "Me Voy" (I'm leaving) with a power and emotional commitment that staggers belief! kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2rClGichdekpNE She was already winning every contest in Russia and other countries that she could get to. Then at 14yo Diana took part in an amazing Russian project "You're Super!" for abandoned/disadvantaged children (because Diana spent time in an orphanage) The 1st song she performed shocked the judges and audience so much, it went viral. She is another very interesting story that you will discover. Wait until you hear “Wicked Games”, “Take On Me”, "Human" or "Rechenka" Even though it is in Russian you still feel the emotion behind it. I've heard her sing in Russian, English, French, German, Arabic and Spanish so far. No matter what language it is beautiful.
